The Communal Character

This could be fun. Maybe not. Maybe so. Maybe Character Development would be a better place for this...

I want to create a character using this board. Other people have tried this. They had a days-long voting period for each aspect of the character, which just looked boring to me. So I want to do this the fast way.

Rules:

Each poster gets to determine one aspect of the character. A poster may determine a second aspect only if at least four posts have been written since the last time, or if no one's posted in 8 hours.
Aspects must be selected in the order listed below. For example, the first poster chooses the race, the second chooses the class, etc.
If, due to slow posting, two posters make choices about the same aspect, only the first one counts. The second poster should politely delete his or her post.
Only the following sources are allowed: PHB, DMG and MM 1.
This is a first-level character.
Try to make this a character someone might actually want to play. :)

Aspects to choose:

Race
Class
Age at the time he or she starts adventuring
Alignment
Attributes, using 30-point buy.
Skills
Feats
Abilities, animal companion, familiar, known spells or standard prepared spells (skip if not applicable)
Equipment
Name
Physical description
Basic personality
Any number of personality quirks, or additional personality notes
History: The character as a youth
History: The character as a teenager (if applicable)
History: The character as a young adult (if applicable)
History: The character as an adult (if applicable)
History: The character's first adventure. You may assign an arbitrary number of experience points for completion of the adventure, and level up the character if applicable.
Repeat the previous step for as long as people are interested. You may add additional party members, world locations, or whatever else you want.

If you think I missed something, please send me a private message so as not to clutter the thread.

Since he's a cleric, I wish to choose the Domains!

Metal Domain (Grants Martial Weapon Prof and Weapon Focus (Warhammer))

Spell for level 1: Magic Weapon

Pride Domain (Whenever you roll a natural 1 on a saving throw, you can reroll the save, infinite uses per day, must accept the result of the second roll even if it is another 1)

The domains (and some of the spells) you chose are not from the allowed sources. Please read the initial post for the rules to this exercise.

Invoking 8 hour rule:

History: The character as a youth: Hrir Angelkiller was born to a dwarven tavern owner along with her husband; the local blacksmith. After one year of being in the world Hrir was abandoned in the desert, due to money problems (mother and father did'nt have the money to suppport him).
Soon after he was picked up and raised by a clerical group of Erythnul, who happened to be travelling by.

During his early childhood he had a pet bat (a gift for his 4th birthday), but unfortunately was used as a sacrifice one year later by the clerics (without telling him).

Soon he began to train with the clerics, worshiping Erythnul and learning to draw power from his faith.

It's been over 48 hours, so I could just bump - but I won't, I'll try and contribute something useful.

History: Teenage Years:

Hrir wasn't particullarly scarred by the loss of his pet, but it was to become the first of many pet bats that this happened to - enduring him to the loss of non-sentient life. Finally, when the others thought he was ready, they asked him to perform the sacrifice himself. It went flawlessly. A few days later, he captured an elf in the temple grounds - the elders took him away for questioning, and when that revealed the elf to be an enemy they award him to Hrir as his first Humanoid sacrficial victim. Over the course of his training in the ways of his god, Hrir always preferred Elven victims and avoided Dwarven ones when given the choice. The clergy spotted this 'failing' in him as those of his temple believed that race should not be the prime basis for slaughter, but rather religion. He was turned out of the temple upon reaching his majority for this very reason.

As far as he knows, at this point everyone who is important to his life is still alive.

History: The character as a young adult: As Hrir grew older he began to travel with the clerics of Erythnul, on foot they traveled for 1 year, 3 months, 2 days.
Throughout this journey he began to understand what it ment to live- to further the power of Erythnul, and by doing so adding power to himself.
His name became infamous in regions, and his name worked into horror stories around campfires.
Later on he murdered his mother and father for what they had done to him, upon doing this he was accepted into the higher ranks of his cleric-hood.(Regardless of his non-dwarf stuff)

Now that he was powerful enough to go alone, the clerics of Erythnul sent Hrir on a very special task; to journey the world and covert non-believers, and if nessissary use force...

It's been more than 8 hours, so I posted again.

He was turned out of the temple, and then spent the next year travelling with the clerics who kicked him out? I think there's a missing segment of this story. :)
Adamaro23

05-26-07, 01:43 AM
zioth, not kicked out, sent to convert others as they had done to him as a child. He traveled with them before they sent him to convert others, after he traveled he got higher up in status and was then considered powerful enough (level 1) to bring others to his religon.

He wasn't kicked out, just sent to bring back others. :)
