This is my first post and jeez I’ve got some problems with the way the game is played let me start from the top ok its one immense dilemma after another,
And my first time playing this epic and grand game, in my opinion I'd love to be in Ed Greenwoods shoes I can’t believe he actually makes a living from this it would be a dream job.

Firstly I'll refer to the players I deal with very carefully, they could be on this board somewhere, the treacherous whelps would have me hanged if they knew I was doing this.

Well firstly the issue here is the DM he is lazy and very picky not to mention a deceptive genius livid about me looking like a fool at every turn, then he has a few tricks up his sleeve, he firstly makes all the characters in my party I
have been playing with uber with above excellent reputation and bonus custom skills and classes that are way above anything I could possibly imagine and basing allowing them anything they want, purposely making them powerful for his story while at the same time barring me from a decent custom
class that is wizard with a bit of fighter, and my own form of magic style which I will only say is reasonable and fits with my back story, And get this I am willing to earn all my abilities by arduous trial that could see me dead many times over in order to forge myself into a neutral hero that gain respect by laboring constantly whilst shedding blood sweat and tears at every turn.
He even tried to threaten me by jesting about a character with my exact description be the final evil tyrant at the end, hmmm lets see I like to be NEUTRAL OKAY NOT THE BLAME FOR ALL SUFFERING!!!!

Here’s an example one character is a Sorcerer dragon disciple by blood not by class who on top of this is also an arcane archer considered to be the heroine of the story with too many bonuses and a big level adjustments to count, come on isn't that just a bit overpowered. She is only level 8 and could take out a beholder by herself for crissakes!!! She walks about thinking she is omnipotent because of her sheer size and stats and we are allowed to level up to thirty imagine what she could become; even elminister would have trouble taking her out.

The next main character is a druid who has experienced the drift effect in so many cool ways that he is basically on his way to becoming stronger the Robyn from the Dark walker & druid home series and she an avatar, his constant shifting gives him such cool stats he can move like speeding bullet and he has bad temper, he forgets how many times I saved him and almost broke me in half today just because I was trying to help him and calm him down talk about violent, and by the way he is supposed to be neutral which mystifies me, also he is getting to the stage where he ridicules me because he can talk to the animals and has a SPECIAL crossbow tsk tsk.

Lastly is the wizard he is so full of himself that he thinks he is better than me just because his Uncle is in a prophecy in the game and he has an apprentice and he is only level 7 who constantly thinks he is the best because of his frag count and also well on his way to becoming more powerful than Raistlin, I am sour most of all because of his treachery he thinks he is a flawless master of all and generally treats me like a fool when I just ask his advice on spells for my character jeez remember this IS MY FIRST TIME PLAYING. To top it all off he DM's his own game and makes me waits until 9:00 pm he then turns around and lets everyone interrupt my game time freely when he hushes me when its their turn , I rush about constantly in games as by that time I only get an hour per week and have to get public transport all the way to my house which is an hour and 10 minutes away and all the other people playing live down the road from him 5 minutes away , get this he has been my "friend" for 8 years count em that’s right 8 years and treats me like a joke and a second class citizen compared to the others and he wonders why I make so many mistakes when he rushes me.

Worse comes to worse I am the joke of both games which is a permanent stunt by the DM to have some entertainment at my expense, with often very cruel things happening to me for instance today they left me in jail because I was advised by the DM on a quest to go to a lords manor which had been overrun by doppelgangers, I jumped on the roof and the doppelganger called the city guard on me I had approx 8 minutes to get away in game time 8 rounds exactly I asked patiently may I go now I have seen the lord of the manor as the doppelganger in his real guise Ill alert the others he ignores me and says about a few minutes later after he’s done with my fellow gamers characters that I am beseeched by the guard who are low level fighter and not harpers, that apparently now how to dispel level 2 invisibility and after I had slipped into an alley way and I got a good roll an 18 on my move silently which is about 11 ranks as well only because of my dexterity being +2 and I have a high intelligence 20+5 because I rolled a twenty on my initial stat rolls which allows me to spend 15 skill points per level and they still find me and catch me and send me away and I wasn’t even on the roof at the time they saw me, you tell me how a lvl3wiz/lvl4 fighter with adequate skills gets beaten to submission from a lowly pack of city guards they were lvl2 all up, and I have only leather armor on with a dexterity of 15+2, they weighed down by full suits of chain mail and they still caught up to me. When I was thrown into the dungeon a traitorous noob fighter of the party suggested I be freed the other party members rolled their eyes at me after all I have done for them out of character and in character, they then proceed to leave me in the dungeon when they hold sway in the town and could of had me set free easily they do it after they complete my quest, take my experience points and my treasure rewards all the hard work I did in finding the place, if it wasn’t for me they would still be wandering around complaining about how useless and stupid my character is, feel free to post your feed back , I know its quite a lot to read but shouldn't be too much for you intelligent gamers out there.

The main thing to do when you are not having fun in a game, is to tell the other players and DM. Ask them what can be done to correct the problem and why they are acting this way with you. This is the best way to know what's wrong and what you can do to have a better experience in your future games.

The last thing to do though, would be to act as a real jerk in the game as erverthing will only get worse for you.

So, you should speak to your friends about that. There's nothing, I think, we can really do to help you.

But I am wondering, what you mean by :
about me looking like a fool at every turn
What are you doing that makes you look like a fool ?

A) how can this be your first time playing, you know the rules too well, and you make too many assumptions to be a new player.

B) I would never allow a player to dictate to me what rules I will use, I highly doubt I would allow a player to introduce a "custom class" with a new magic system.

C) If this truly was your first time playing. Then why would you expect the characters that your character has just met to help you get out of jail. And if this was your first time playing, how is it possible that your character ahs done so much for the others in the game.

D) Add all this together and you almost seem like you are trolling, but it was way too much effort for you average troll to type, so much, so I wil assume you aren't trolling.

Really what wear you looking for again? Do you like the people you are playing with. If the answer is no then leave the group, else you really shouldn't mind spending some time with your friends and just hanging out. really that is all D&D is. It is a good reason for you and your friends to get together and have some fun.

So, you would allow everyone but one person a custom class?

If you read the post, you'd know that everyone but this guy has a special custom class with added features and stuff.

A custom class by the DM instead of a custom class by a new player... I would see a big difference if the DM was competent. I'd never allow a new player to make his own class, heck I woudn't let an experienced fellow do it either if I never gamed with him before.

As I know very little actual facts on what happened, I'm not gonna say who's right or wrong. I'll just tell you what would be the best thing to do either way: GET THE HELL OUTTA THERE!
If you are right and they are pure idiots, well then, they are... well... pure idiots... not worth playing with.
If you are wrong, you got on their wrong side, and playing with that group is just not for you.
So leave the group.

Agreed, leave the group.
But it sounds as if ALL of you are YOUNG. Not that it is a bad thing to be young but the way your "friend of 8 years" seems to be teasing you it seems as if he is acting on a power trip. No reason to take the bus for a lousy time. If this is your first time then it could get better. Talk to the people who play and your friend the DM. If that doesn't work, then leave. There are a lot of problems it seems with your game though...20 as an initial stat roll? What method is that? 15 skill points per level!!!! Maybe at 1st...but every level!!?? Sounds as if the whole group doesn't have a complete handle on the rules and that could also be the cause of discord.

I agree with starfire. This post seems all wrong. It is badly worded to the point where the majority makes no sense and yet the terms employed do not fit with the usual "inexperienced player in trouble" that we often see posting on these boards.

I believe this is someone who is either trying to have fun at our expense. Alternatively, it is someone who has put so little care into their post that it proves impossible to offer meaninful comments or suggestions.

Shows how little you know, listen I was having a real problem here and all I simply asked is how I can get around people in a Game session enviroment that basically are treating my character as the fool and secondly the DM was basically just screwing me around allowing other characters to be to over powered thats all I said and about the other DM he is supposedly friend and yet he makes the game hard for me I don't know if it's just they need somebody to make fun of in their campaign or they simply just testing me to see if I can handle myself, and by the way the reason why I know so much is because I am an RPG freak who has played every D&D game released on PC that's why I know so much ok.

I just though you guys would be understanding and generally want to give me advice

I don't see many people not being understanding and not giving you advice. I see one or two people being snotty, and the rest are trying to help you with your problem.

Unfortunately, since your problems stem from the fact that your DM got his DM liscence out of a cracker hack box, there's not much advice we can give you.

Really, all you can do is either ask him to stiop being a jerk, or to simply not play D&D with him anymore. I'm not saying end a friendship, I'm saying just don't play with him if he sucks.

That was really helpful Count , I just wanted a straight answer and you gave it to me and you have opened my eyes to the fact that there will always be chumps and that most DM's and players are cool people to hangout with.

I will definitely rethink how to deal with my problems very carefully as my DM and fellow gamers are probably just having fun at my expense and seeing if my character can perservere and learn paitence.

Just take a stand and tell them that you don't want to be treated that way, if they are actually friends then they will start treating you better. If they don't stop treating you badly than leave.

It isnt snotty to expect posters to take some care in presenting their posts. Drow`s recent core reply is an entire paragraph that hasnt been divided up with a full stop. I`m happy for people to have poor spelling or not to be word perfect, but that kind of thing is hard to read and doesnt help him make his point properly.

I would suggest breaking up large amounts of text with empty lines. Additionally, be sure to use enough full stops and shortened sentences that thread readers can appreciate what it is you are trying to convey.

Do this and you will find people can post better advice to you. Otherwise all you will probably get is either suspicion or people simply going "yes, that sounds like unfair treatment", simply because they cant get what you are saying and only pick up bits and pieces.

Having to spend most of a session in jail while the rest of the part adventures really sucks. At the very least you should have got to play an NPC adventuring with the party (perhaps the wizard's apprentice?) cause otherwise the game's going to be very boring. And it does sound like the GM twisted things to have you captured in the first place. Definitely sounds like favouritism, as you said.

If things don't improve I'd say your best option is to leave the group and find a better one.
