The sorcerer came out with an idea, a dry cleaner!. Why does people need to wash their clothes, especially nobles and aristocrats, when someone can do it for you. So she thought that she can cast prestidigitation to clean the clothes and make the armors shiny (use suggested in Tome and Blood). She also said that we could get some illusion spell scroll to create a sign in the sky, something like: "Want your armor as shiny as new, canīt get your white robes completely white, come to Shania's Dry Cleaner!" I don't think that our DM is going to allow us to do it, but what do you think about it? |
| olshanski_home04-26-04, 01:41 PM | Why bother adventuring. I play D&D to get away from boring real life crap like drycleaning... but if you want to include it in your game, go ahead. If you really want to, go ahead and start a drycleaning service. You could also start a housecleaning service (invisible servant)... or you could ask why nobles don't already have closets of cleaning or whatnot (you put your clothes in, they come out clean... |
| Krelios04-26-04, 01:44 PM | Why would anyone do that when every apprentice wizard in the world probably already cleans clothes as part of their chores? |
| Nisaulin04-26-04, 02:52 PM | There is also the issue of people who simply don't trust mages. Sure, they might take their clothes to the "dry cleaner". But when they get sick, their dog dies, the barn burns down, whatever; are they likely to try blaming the "witch" who cursed their clothing with devious spells. Of course, this could be used as an adventure hook. |

| Quenditar04-27-04, 12:42 AM | If she has the Craft Wondrous Item feat and someone in your party has quite a few ranks in craft (tailoring), make self-cleaning clothing. Or if she has Craft Arms and Armor, permanently shiny magic armor is going to make some local paladin very happy. |
| Mister Mayhem04-27-04, 02:36 AM | Clean my clothes? Why, everybody knows 'tis the smell that keeps away the evil spirits that cause disease! |
| Thermanshs04-27-04, 07:26 AM | I've given that in another thread for Hippi who had financial problems as well.So...try the moneymaker tactic in the middle of the page HERE (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=185835) and let me know if that made you happy too. |
| MageofMyth04-27-04, 04:05 PM | You should try talking to your DM first. If the reason that your characters have no money is because the DM wants it that way then no plan, no matter how brilliant, will get you more money. Having said that my group has always assumed that this is how mages make it to first level is by casting 0 level spells. So you would be competing with established businesses that already do this. It would also be looked at strangely for someone of your stature doing grunt work. Kind of like Bill Gates coming to my house to repair a computer, he is rich and repair people are trying to feed their families. |
