| gametaku01-19-08, 11:27 AM | I am currently working on a chracter for a level 14 campain (probby going to be a Ranger 11/Druid (halfling w/ riding dog who speciles in mounted archery) The campain is core only (PHB/MM/DMG), though information from The Arms and Equitment Guid, MM3, Libris Mortis, Expeneded Psionics Handbook, Draconlonace Campain, and the forgoten relms series is also welcome. 1. Are druid/ranger animal compainions effected by spells cast by the player from another class, for example alter self. and if so how would that work Would both change into seperate creatures, identical twins, or would/could a hourse, and human become a centitur. 2. Can animal compainions, use rings, footware, ext. 3. Does your magica equipment effect your companion, for example varrious cloaks. 4. Can a spell storing weapon hold spells that are not target spells, and does the person who the spell effects know they are being effected by that perticuler spell. 5. Is it possible to have an undead animal compainion. -Thanks |

Otherwise, it's sufficient to simply state what expansions are allowed in your campaign. Moving on... The Share Spell ability doesn't specifically state that only Ranger/Druid/Wizard/Sorcerer spells can be shared between PC and companion. If your ranger manages to cast a personal-range arcane spell, I see no reason to believe he could not share that spell's effects with his animal companion. Depends. Footwear? Like boots or sandals? No. Rings? Not unless the creature can actually slip the ring onto an appendage without fear of it slipping off. Amulets? Usually; just shorten the chain. Keep in mind that you can have custom items crafted to benefit your animal companion. Heck, The Draconomicon is full of examples of magic items designed by dragons to be worn in their natural forms. In general, no. Such items impart their magic only upon the person/creature actually wearing the item. Certain items may, but they would be an exception to the general rule. For example, you can conceal yourself and a familiar beneath a Cloak of Invisibility. However, only your PC would get the AC benefit from a +1 Cloak of Protection. No. The rules for spell storing weapons are very specific. I'm not sure I understand the second part of this question... Not usually. Druids - even most evil druids - generally see the undead as a vile abomination of the natural order and destroy them on sight. |

Core-only means just that: ONLY material from the three core rulebooks is allowed. Otherwise, it's sufficient to simply state what expansions are allowed in your campaign. I'll keep that in mind for future post thank you. Depends. Footwear? Like boots or sandals? No. Rings? Keep in mind that you can have custom items crafted to benefit your animal companion. Heck, The Draconomicon is full of examples of magic items designed by dragons to be worn in their natural forms. How would I go about getting items crafted for an animal. I don't have access to th eDroconomican, just the books I listed, crystal keep and other online sources. |
