Playing a 3rd Edition Mage for the first time, and I'm curious as to how two things work:
Does the bonus granted by Magic Weapon stack with the bonuses it already has? IE, does it turn a +1 Longsword into a +2 Longsword?

Does Shocking Grasp stick until you decide to take it off? It seems a little hard to understand from the descriptor. It says under duration "Permanent Until Discharged." Discharge usually means fired off, but it can also mean taking away a charge of some sort. This makes sense. You can hold a charge as long as you want. However, all the descriptors for other Touch spells read "Instantaneous". So is it a one-shot deal or does it stay until you decide you'd rather not have a 10 thousand volt joy buzzer?

In answer to the shocking grasp, it stays until you touch something. When you touch something, it is discharged. Idk about the magic sword thing, but I don't think it would stack.

Magic weapon (and Greater magic weapon) does not stack with the existing bonuses of the weapon. It overlaps. This is because they are both enhancement bonuses.

As for the shocking grasp thing, it works like any touch spell: You cast the spell and you can hold the charge until you touch something. Note that if you already have something in your hand (like say a dagger) you have not actively touched it, since you where holding it as you cast the spell, so the spell is not discharged. On the other hand, if you draw your dagger (or open a door or whatever) , the spell IS discharged. Note also that you cannot discharge the spell through the dagger, say by stabbing someone with it.
