| Phaje10-12-06, 05:07 PM | A rider can take cover while on their mount at just about anytime they would be attacked. Does this mean you are ducking down and using the mount as a shield? If so, does the mount run the chance of taking damage from this? If it does, could you then use the feat Mounted Combat to avoid the damage? |

Luckily, those rules are completely optional. If you don't use them, you can use your horse as cover, but it isn't hit if something misses you. Sounds strange, but is not really different from any other form of cover. When you use these rules together with a feat from the PHBII (Bloodspiked Charger, lets you deflect blows with your shield and outmaneuver the enemy), things become really funny: When something fails to hit you by, say, 2 points, the cover rules say it hit your cover - but the feat says it hit your shield and is thus deflected. Must be an interesting attack form... |
| Kradlo10-13-06, 04:11 PM | Specifically, it is the Game Master's option to use those rules, not the option of the player. He makes the rules, and if he rules that using your horse as cover may leave it pincushioned, that's what happens. |
