cucumber 10-29-07, 03:54 PM	okay. so Cucumber is essentially bipolar. she tends to be genial, especially around her half-orc barbarian "Thud". but when you **** her off (ie, if you make her fight you, she becomes rather fiercy and *****y). essentially she's true neutral, but i'm still debating for when she's mad. when she's drunk, she's very happy and will heal most anyone who asks. she debates healing people, mostly to meet her own ends. the only person she will consistently heal is Thud, but there's a whole backstory behind that. and he's her protection. i'm not saying she's weak, but i'm not going for a god-mod here. okay, so that being said, we're using 3.5. usually i play as a scout or ranger. my DM this turn around loves traps and hurting the players, so i decided to be a cleric. in another campaign i'm playing, my companion is a really kickass cleric who summons fiends and all that fun ****. so yeah. i figure that's a good way to go, however, i'm unfamiliar with how to approach creating my character. my stats are as follows: STR 8 DEX 11 CON 17 INT 15 WIS 17 CHA 12 if i need to switch a couple numbers around, it's okay. i think i did a decent job with not so decent rolls. i can figure most stuff about characters once i have the basics, but i have issues with the player's guide at times, and this is one of those times. i'm not a total noob, but some help would be appreciated ^_~ danke!
queenfange 10-29-07, 04:28 PM	I'm assuming this is not a serious campaign? Also, your alignment doesn't change with your moods or state of inebriation (you said something about debating her AL when she angry), so if she's violent when peeved and happy-nice when drunk, it just shows she's very variable- TN. So, what exactly you want help with? Feats, spells, skills, or what? Pick out your deity based on roleplaying (unless you're one of them powergamers, in which case, I won't be much use), and we'll choose domains based on usefulness and roleplaying value.

Sooo, when people make her mad, she gets mad? And she doesn't like getting attacked? I have to be honest here, you are making a problem character. A drunken cleric who has a mental disorder is not something that typically makes for a good time for anyone else playing except for you. It sounds like something prepared to deliberately irritate the other players and the DM. Whether that was in fact your goal doesn’t matter, because it will. Don’t do this. Don't be that guy.
Voran 10-29-07, 07:38 PM	Honestly, it sounds more like making the char CN or N and ditching the whole 'lawful' and 'bipolar' thing. Its not as likely to **** as many people off :)
Disciple_of_Salsa 10-29-07, 08:14 PM	I would set it up more like this... STR 17 DEX 11 CON 15 INT 12 WIS 17 CHA 8 Clerics make good melee combatants when buffed. Also, a bipolar cleric probably has low CHA.
cucumber 10-29-07, 09:45 PM	don't worry, i've thought about problem character, but my DM is... special. and the other players are cool. we have odd senses of humor. so that part will work out. i just don't know really how to go about setting this character up, which parts of the handbook to really play attention too. what kind of feats and spells i should go for, that kind of thing.
Saiyamantis 10-30-07, 06:05 PM	Cucumber sounds like she'd appreciate the Passion domain from Eberron. It'll give her all sorts of fun emotional toys to play with, including rage.
cucumber 11-06-07, 07:44 PM	so i've figured out most powers, my god is obad-hai, and my domains are earth and fire. what i'm really having trouble with is items. i'm level 7 and have 17000 gp to use. any suggestions of important stuff i should include in my items?
Orchomenos 11-07-07, 02:29 PM	I recently played a TN Female cleric of Kelanen (Prince of Swords), named Biella. She grew up as an aristocrat young girl dreaming of rainbows and charming princes, though she was a bit tom-boyish. As a teenager, she had some success with the young nobles around, and positively hoped to marry one. Then her father died, leaving her and her familly with no money and no status. All the young nobles who wanted to marry her were now utterly ignoring her, or at the very least, considering hiring her as a servant. The worst happened when her sister had to marry an ugly retreated general to bring back some money at home. Biella rebelled, and joinned an anarchic group bent on destroying everything just for the fun of it. In the group, she eventually met another cleric of Kelanen who taught to concentrate on her swordplay, and fight for the balance. With this knowledge, she left the anarchic band not so long before it was disbanded by the army. She's now a TN cleric fighting for the balance. She doesn't really care about Good or Evil, she's more concerned about Law vs Chaos. Anything too Lawful reminds her painfully her past the hypocrite young nobles she met, anything too Chaotic reminds her the time she past in the anarchic group...

cucumber 11-08-07, 09:50 AM	yeah, i more than know. i'm diagnosed moderate-severe bipolar, but it's hard to create a full bipolar character that will work at all. i tried to make her a little more.. usable. either way, my DM is amused by her and will randomly roll a die to determine her mood. which will affect which spells i can do. but i'm prepared for this. that's the point. it's a hard character to play, but amusing to my entire group, so... i guess when i'm in my own moods, it'll affect her to b/c i have been told i put my whole into my roleplaying. but either way, i'm still tweaking her. i have a LOT to do @_@
