Ok this is gonna be hard. I just started playing today, and the campain is toough already. Right now I have the enemy has an army of evil freaks, and this dark, unknown creature, that is covered in the evil shroud of evil darkness. They are heading for my home town whos army is about 1000-2000 men. We also have 500 special units, like rakashas, elfs, half dragons, a dragon/nymph, and an Elvin Paladin(me). But its hard because its my first time, and the only other human player couldn't make it, so the DM had to control his character. So I am confused about what I should do. No one in the town can evacuate, and I am only at level two. What do you think?

Evil shroud of evil darkness you say. sorry just jk.

They are heading for my home town whos army is about 1000-2000 men. We also have 500 special units, like rakashas, elfs, half dragons, a dragon/nymph, and an Elvin Paladin(me).

This is the army thats in your town? 1000-2000 men.

So far i would say just let the evil guy come, have anyone that can do devine or holy damage up first, attack from the air if possible and use ranged attacks.

So I am confused about what I should do. No one in the town can evacuate, and I am only at level two. What do you think?

You might want to ask the DM for a hint, maybe he wants you to go out and stop them before they get there, leveling up on the way.

Hope I helped a bit

How big is the evil army? Is it:

A) slightly larger than your town's, a tough fight but they will in the end probably win.
B) signifigently (sp) larger than your town's, an easy fight for them to crush the town.
C) a DM plot device that automatically defeats the town with no chance of a player doing anything but wha tthe DM planned (usually going on a quest and killing the general,a nd having no chance of succefully getting more troop etc.)
D) the army is smaller than the town's and the town will probably/deffinetly win the fight (this option has an aprox 0.01% of being what the situation is).

It's just that, the evil thing in the evil shroud of evil darkness, is extremely powerful, it caught our dragon on the way back to the town, and took one of our Rakasha's down fighting, and it is still alive.

Hmmh. Well, if I know my plot hooks, chances are the DM has planned for some way for you to: Stop the opposing army from getting to the town; evacuate the villagers; find reinforcements that can turn the battle your way; et cetera.

Gather information. The skill, and the good old-fashioned "hit the streets and look for people who know any legends about darkness-thingies". Same for making contact with possible allies or ways to get the innocents out. Maybe there's a secret passage somewhere, who knows?

Why can't the villagers evacuate? Are you surrounded somehow, or are there just too many to get out before this army comes? If so, take your army out and slow the enemy army down while the villagers escape.

Is diplomacy a possibility? Doesn't sound like it at this point, but consider it and use it if the opportunity arises. Don't expect evil enemies to keep promises, though.

If I know my villains, chances are the "creature of darkness" has some sort of a weak spot--a way to overcome it without brute force. If it's as powerful as the DM's NPCs say it is, then you can't meet it in head-on combat (or not yet) because doing so would just be throwing your life away. Your character's way of looking at it is probably something like, "I can't defeat something that powerful; so there's got to be another way to hurt it."

Good luck.

They wont evacuate because they are afraid of our dragon/nymph. As for deplomacy, I have no idea, I will have to ask the other PC about his stats, and we might be getting someone new in our campain, so he might choose deplomacy.
