| Ethilian10-31-06, 07:52 PM | Hello I would like to say, I feel my answer can be found here and I would love any help. Here is the problem... A fellow player in my group has a common habit of making his characters quite broken. The DM does not watch his dice rolls and thus he has 18's in almost every stat. And the person has played long enough to find holes in 2nd edition. (My group refuses to play 3rd Edition) Also, he is good friends with DM and commonly the DM will give him hints, help, and prevent any real danger to him. I might be rambling, but I feel this isnt how the harmony of a group should be? I would love any help or replies. And hello everyone, this is my first post. |

But if you can put up with it, I think you should just put up with it. Or leave. Otherwise it will only end in arguments and him getting all defensive. What you could do is play by example - be honest and have fun doing it. Try to get the limelight without needing to resort to cheating to be the best. Have fun. Exclaim how you are really pleased with what you rolled. He might pipe in that his stats are better. You can reply "statistically better but mine are more interesting, at least he is not a monster, this character rocks". Play your weaknesses as a bonus. He may just get envious and want some of what your've got. Sometimes the best thing to do is just get on with it and have fun. |

If there's one tank and the rest have to sit out, then take the issue to the dm or the player. Again, good luck with that, if they're already aware of your gripes, they should have already made some changes. We have a similar problem and our dms excuse? "But I made that race to be overpowered." The player? "I like being a tank." You could start your own, just to show them that you do in fact understand the rules just as well and understand what dming entails. It's what we did. Sadly, because our original group started out so well. |
