| Ront_The_Barbarian01-25-05, 12:49 PM | My friends and I have been discussing the feint ability...If I unserstand it correctly if you do a feint the character losses his dex bonus...now with this we have a player that will feint and then use sneek attack...(becase of the loss of dex bonus) my question is this If a character has uncanny dodge and retains his dex does that apply to the feint ability even if he losses the bluff check??? We have gone back and forth on this for...I dont know EVER...and I wanted some other insite to the problem. Thank you RONT |
| SmokeShadow01-25-05, 01:19 PM | I would have to say that Uncanny dodge supercedes feint. My reasoning is that Uncanny dodge states that the character retains his/her dex bonus to AC even in circumstances it would be denied, and that feint is one of those circumstances (along with flat footed, etc.) ... it is, after all, pretty uncanny.... |

I was thinking of the old 3.0 wording. 3.5 seems to imply that it works only when flat-footed or attacked by an invisible attacker. I guess I've gotta agree with Remix... |
| Stuntman01-25-05, 05:10 PM | From the 3.5 SRD: Uncanny Dodge (Ex): Starting at 4th level, a rogue can react to danger before her senses would normally allow her to do so. She retains her Dexterity bonus to AC (if any) even if she is caught flat-footed or struck by an invisible attacker. However, she still loses her Dexterity bonus to AC if immobilized. This ability is specific about when the character retains her Dex bonus to AC. Namely when caught flat-footed or struck by an invisible attacker. FEINT Feinting is a standard action. To feint, make a Bluff check opposed by a Sense Motive check by your target. The target may add his base attack bonus to this Sense Motive check. If your Bluff check result exceeds your target’s Sense Motive check result, the next melee attack you make against the target does not allow him to use his Dexterity bonus to AC (if any). This attack must be made on or before your next turn. The feint action does not make the target flat-footed. Also, you are not considered to be an invisible attacker. Therefore, I would say that feint still makes someone with uncanny dodge lose his Dex bonus to AC. The interesting thing is that if you are an invisible attacker, you cannot feint a target with uncanny dodge to make him lose his Dex bonus to AC. However, he can become visible and then feint a target with uncanny dodge. |
