ok sorry in advance but i suck at making grids so bear with me if you will here we go
wall[1][A]wall
wall[2][B]wall
wall[C][3]wall
a= dwarf
b= elf
c= mini boss

ok the dwarf and elf are allies. this question came up in a fight we were in. i was sitting on my horse staring straight down the hall at c, the mini boss. now the dwarf won inish so he was going to go and attack the mini boss. now we know he could take a 5 foot step and move into square 2 and and be able to attack the mini boss no prob. but by doing so i would lose my ablility to lance his butt into next week. so then we thought that he could go to square 3 by squezing (sp) past the elf. the question came up on if that provoked an aoo. me and the elf both said it didn't and tryed to find it in the rules. the dm dissagreed but after a mintue let it slide and let it happen this time. but i'm sure it will come up again so i was hoping for some insight on who was wrong. also another question i thought up just now. can you attack through an allys square? like if the dwarf was standing in front of the mini boss and i ended my charge in front of the dwarf, with my lance as a reach weapon, could i hit the mini boss? or does it not work that way. anyway thanks for all the help. any page numbers would be great thanks ^_^

Okay, what makes you think that moving 10 feet through an enemy's threatened area does not provoke an AoO?

Moving through squares with friends in them does not provide cover, and so you would still provoke attacks of opportunity (see the rules on movement and position relating to movement through a friendly character, PHB pg147, for proof).

As to your second question, yes you could have simply rode up and used your reach weapon to hit the mini-boss. However, since the dwarf would have been in the way, he provides cover for the mini-boss (for info on cover, see PHB pg150-152). If the DM decides, this could mean that you might accidentally hit the dwarf in this case.

*note-answer tailored to the 3.5 PHB. If you use 3.0, well, I hold no responsibility for any confusion or misinterpretation caused as a result of my actions*

Also, note that you can't charge through an ally's square. You didn't ask about charging, of course, but it's related to the topic, so I'm tossing it out there. ;)

* the dwarf would provoke an AoO in moving to 3
* if the dwarf remains in position, you have 10' reach and are on foot, and you are in the left hand column (c, 2, 1, ...) then you can charge the boss (assuming no other obstructions).
-if the dwarf moves you need not start in the left hand column.
* if the dwarf remains in position and you have 10' reach with a large mount then you cannot charge the boss because your mount would need to occupy his square.
* if the dwarf moves, the elf is not an obstacle to your charging and won't provide cover [1]
* if the dwarf remains in place, you could ride up and squeeze your mount into square 1 next to the dwarf and attack taking =4 to hit (and AC) for squeezing until one of you moved. You could not charge to that spot as your movement would be impeded.

* If the dwarf is in square 2, you can charge and some DMs will grant the boss cover depending on how they rule soft cover against reach weapons.

[1] Reach Weapons use Range Attack rules for determining cover but are melee attacks. Some DMs consider "soft cover" to affect reach weapons (beause they determing cover like range weapons) and others don't (because they are melee attacks). In any case you could choose a corner of your squares such that the boss had no cover in this situation.
