DwarvenStriker 07-18-07, 01:01 PM	I have a querry that arose in my gaming group recently. The feat in question is Telling Blow from the PHB2. For those not familiar with the feat it allows sneak attack/skirmish damage to be added if a character scores a critical hit. The DM of a oneshot we are currently running looked it over and said that this means if the enemy is question was already flatfooted when you scored the critical you get to add your damage twice. This doesn't sound right to me at all. I expressed concerns over it not actually saying so in the book, but his stance is it can be done since it doesn't say it can't. I'm really not complaining since it it to our advantage, but I'd like to know how the feat really works. Any advice or clarification would be most appreciated.
Salla 07-18-07, 01:12 PM	No. Telling Blow merely adds another condition under which Sneak Attack damage can be dealt. You don't get double sneak attack, for example, if the target is both denied is DEX bonus to AC and flanked, so neither do you get it if the target is both flanked and you land a Telling Blow.
Ronule 07-18-07, 01:14 PM	I don't think it means you get added damage for a flat-footed opponent; I think the feat is only giving you the ability to do the damage if you score a critical hit on an opponent who is not flat-footed (or any other time they would lose their dex bonus). I'd have to read the feat discription in its entirety to really have a good grasp on what it is really saying. But given what you have said, I'd put a pretty good sized bet that it doesn't add on, but merely gives you an extra chance to deal sneak attack damage when you normally wouldn't be able to.
