| The Master Weaver Is Warped06-27-04, 11:04 AM | For the rogue players out there. Now we all know you can't honestly tell people what it is you do, so what do you tell them? I am a simple, pragmatic traveler. |
| Winternova06-27-04, 11:24 AM | I've always been partial to 'Treasure Hunter' personally. |
| Tevandel Surefacet06-27-04, 11:26 AM | "I'm a Scout" "Swashbuckler" “Why do you want to know?” “A master of love, beautiful lady, would you like to see my etchings?” “I acquire artifacts from people who don’t need them any more” “Adventurer” “Thief how about you?” “Wandering Minstrel” (take at least one rank of some perform…) “Caravan Guard” (after all a 2nd level rogue is as good as a 1st level warrior) “Field Archaeologist” (take one rank of knowledge(history) – or bluff…) “Priest of Pelar” (i.e., lie) “Expert Locksmith” “Security consultant” |
| Chewbacca's LightSaber06-27-04, 11:33 AM | I prefer "Gentleman of Fortune" :smirk: . |
| Kalrin06-27-04, 11:36 AM | "Infiltration Expert" Of course most of my rogues are exactly that :).... Search, Disable Device, Open Locks.... |
| Cyrus_Dracmoore06-27-04, 11:37 AM | Pikk'en, the homeless |
| Dragon Snack06-27-04, 01:41 PM | Adventurer or Warrior works (my Rogues are more combat oriented than theivery oriented), anything else and they are too inquisitive... If I'm multiclassed, then I'm simply whatever other class it is. Currently a 'Cleric of Brandobaris thank you very much, would you care to hear some tales of daring-do?' I've also been a 'Master of Illusion' / 'Master of Sights, Sounds, and Sorcery' (Rogue/Illusionist). I forget what my Dwarven Fighter/Rogue was called - an NPC referred to me in a derogatory manner and I adopted it as my own phrase (this was the first 3.0 character I played). He did refer to himself as a 'Spelunker' (one who explores caves) at first though. (edit: Yes, I edited spelling mistakes that were 2+ years old...) |
| Tehril06-27-04, 01:50 PM | I'm no thief, I'm a rogue! (says the axe wielding half orc, barbarian/ranger/rogue) with a penchant for dealing massive damage before sneak attack is applied... Leading to my parties popular expression: "I'm not worried about the dragons, death knights or giants. We've got our 'rogue' with us". |
| Ssussunriyh06-27-04, 02:26 PM | "...a humble, reasonably corrupt opportunist." |

| Kethka06-27-04, 02:52 PM | Security Expert |
| Gilrion06-27-04, 03:31 PM | My rogue normally refers to himself as a scout, or an explorer of sorts. The term 'chew toy' has been used and seems to apply, since so many monsters have taken a liking to him (I'm the de facto tank of my party; it's a wonder I'm still alive at all, and conscious most of the time). What I usually like to do with rogues, though, is give them fake names/jobs. I sometimes drop a skill point or two into a Profession, so I can pass myself off as pretty much of anything. I can be a bartender, juggler, mosaicist, painter, construction worker, simple peasant, caravan driver, librarian, you name it. Between Knowledge skills, Bluff and a Profession or two, I can pretty much pass myself off as an expert at best, or an apprentice at worst. So basically, I tell people I am whatever is most convenient in the current situation. |
| preacher of nothing06-27-04, 03:54 PM | question:"What are you?" answer: 1) Your worst nightmare 2) Your prettiest dream m’Lady 3) I am Alpha, I am Omega, I am the Beginning and The End - *Children run off scared* 4) I asked first 5) You don’t need to know *does Jedi thingy, moving hand over the other guy’s face …. Requires hospitalization soon after* 6) Aaah….but what are we all? Mere specks in the multiverse, floating unknowledgeable of our past, present or future, ruled by our utmost desires that we don’t even aknowledge. Are we just pawns in some God’s game? Or are we our own masters? Do we decide our fates or are they forethought of? Who am I indeed….. (actually said that in an adventure as I was playing a rogue….had 16 wis…what can I say?) 7) The walking, talking “lost and found” isle 8) Death incarnate 9) A pixie *rolls 2 at bluff check, gets pounded by the many many orcs* 10) I could tell you, but then I’d have to kill you *children run off scared again* |
| Jell_Moo06-27-04, 04:21 PM | My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die. |
| Winternova06-27-04, 04:25 PM | Rock on, Gel Moo!!! |
| green_yawgmoth06-27-04, 04:44 PM | I always enjoy "yes" myself. :D |
| the dmg06-27-04, 08:18 PM | Originally posted by Jell_Moo My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die. Great character, great book, great movie. :D *Edit* Whenever I play as a rogue, and someone asks that, I would usually tell them "Well I am a man of many talents, one of which is aquiring the impossible." It depends on what kind of character is talking to mine. |
| ninjarabbit06-27-04, 08:53 PM | It really depends on what type of rogue we're dealing with. A fighter/rogue I had called himself a merc while a pure rogue I once had called himself a treasure hunter. |
| Ssussunriyh06-28-04, 12:16 AM | "I decline to answer on the grounds of possible self-incrimination." |
| Stuntman06-28-04, 01:11 AM | "I am not a thief!" The rogue is the most diverse class in 3E+. That is the reason it is my favourite class in 3E+. The rogue has the most diverse set of skills to choose from and the choices a player makes will define the type of character he plays. If you take a few different rogue builds and compare them, each build could resemble totally different classes. The rogue that I played was an anti-thief/scout/investigator. I just called myself a scout at the time. |

NOTHING! *Throws smoke pellet at ground and uses hide and move silentely to vanish* (Use this whenever someone asks you what you are, no matter who they are. It could be a bartender, guard, other party member, King, girl scout, ancient red wyrm doesn't matter) 4. YOU don't say anything. Get the leadership feat and a bard cohort. Use followers as chorus and or dancers. 5. I am ... YOUR FATHER! 6. Rogue? No, no afraid your mistaken. I apply ROUGE. No problem easy mistake to make. 8. I AM NERULL! BOW DOWN BEFORE I SMITE YOU WHERE YOU STAND! (Do this in front of Nerull, he has a great sense of humor.) |
| preacher of nothing06-28-04, 08:48 AM | 8. I AM NERULL! BOW DOWN BEFORE I SMITE YOU WHERE YOU STAND! (Do this in front of Nerull, he has a great sense of humor.) not really sure bout that. Some guy told me he played an ethereal doppelganger that sneaked into mephistopheles's castle and pretended he was him, ordering all the gelugons and pit fiends there to wear pink. Said his DM was cool and meph laughed at the while thing when he found out. |
| Bacon and Eggs06-28-04, 11:50 AM | A chef. |

| player206-28-04, 01:59 PM | A cook, want to try some poison, er wait, soup? |
| Dauntless06-28-04, 02:09 PM | My past rogue characters, when asked their profession in public... "Mercenary scout and infiltrator." - Tanya Blackwillow, NE Tiefling Ranger1/rogue3 (still alive and being actively played) "Dog robber." - Savael of Cormanthor, NN Fey'ri rogue3 (a term for someone in a army who can "find things" for anyone) "Archeologist and exploerer." - Thaddius Rentwood, NG human rogue4 (non-combat, ranks in assorted knowledge skills, decipher script, and appropriate dungeoneering skills) "Sailor." - Talmonious Thidquibble, CE halfling rogue3 (by day, a crewman on the party's merchant ship, but once in port, a catburgler extraordinaire) |
| Beamup06-28-04, 02:25 PM | "I'm the person who just killed you for asking awkward questions." - Kheldar the Rogue/Ninja/Assassin "Adventurer." - characters less inclined towards psychopathic homicidal mania |
| mrurbanitesmiley06-28-04, 03:32 PM | Cleric. | The Master Weaver Is Warped06-28-04, 04:00 PM | Hot little halfling chick says, "Who me? I'm just a party girl." I'm having so much fun here. to everyone. Keep it coming. |
| JoshRodriguez06-28-04, 04:08 PM | I've actually always been partial to answering that question by saying "I'm a powerful wizard!" in a cranky old man voice. It doesn't matter what class or occupation your are. It's even better because a class like a rogue, monk, or bard can pull it off with a minimum of fuss. I can image it now: Rich king: And what do you all do? Guy in platemail with a sword: I am crusader of St. Cuthbert. Guy with bow and leather armor: I am a scout and woodsman Guy with leather armor and 15 daggers: I am a powerful wizard! Rich King: Is that so? GWLA&15D: Behold my arcane might! (quickdraw + knife in the face = dead/impressed king) Rich King: Blarg I am dead/impressed! |

| The Master Weaver Is Warped06-28-04, 04:31 PM | Scavanger. It's not stealing if you take it off their dead body, is it? |
| lekpic06-28-04, 04:33 PM | No, it's not stealing from a dead body. As my party rogue says... "I'm putting it to better use." Says the same thing when trying to steal something off the BBEG or his minions. |
| lekpic06-28-04, 04:38 PM | Proprioter of all things exotic as well as common! |
| tobyk31606-28-04, 04:47 PM | It only considered stealing if you get cought |
| Tago06-28-04, 05:00 PM | Since 3.5 came out I have wanted to play a rogue that specialized in stealing from wizards. Max out use magic device and pretend to be one to scout stuff out. Own a magic item shop. Have a strange feeling he wouldn't last to long though. Considered making him an NPC in my campaigns. |
| tobyk31606-28-04, 05:06 PM | Let me know how your rouge turns out. I'm working on a rogue right know that specializes in stealing Dragon hordes. |

| Kolo06-28-04, 09:40 PM | Got a few I've used; "the other guy" (as in, "I'm the fighter, he's the wizard, that's the cleric, and this is the other guy.") "Pocket-cleaner" "Gleaner of wealth" (You'd be surprised at how many poeple think you're a diviner...) "trapspringer" "Conjuring trickster" (Look, here's your knife. now look carfeully... poof! I'm gone! :D) "multi-purpose appropriation and infiltration specialist." (That's for oyu gnome rogues out there...) "ancient excavation item recovery expert" (tomb raider :D ) |

| JoshRodriguez06-29-04, 11:11 AM | I'm a fashion designer of course. Let's have a look at you. Yes. This black leather armor your wearing is very nice. I like the way the grass stains highlight your lovely green eyes. Oh, but this amulet is far too gaudy, honey. Here. Let me take real quick. Much better. You've got a really nice neckline and you shouldn't be hiding it, deary. Oh, and those hands! You don't see hands like that very often. Hmm...those rings are quite bulky. Let me grab those. Oooo. Much better. You should try to wear something a bit slimmer. Maybe some elf-forged silver rings? Those are all the rage right now. Let's see let's see...wait. Is that a magic sword you've got? Tsk tsk, honey. That's SO last year. All the fashionable villains go with a slim, spider-themed, silver-accented dagger set. Yes that would be perfect for you. Well, let me just hold on to that grungy old sword for ya and...tadaaa! You looks absolutely FABULOUS. Well. My work's done! Ta ta! At this point the fashion designer should book. |
| lekpic06-29-04, 11:13 AM | Should you add a certain 'accent' when you talk as a fashion designer? |
| JoshRodriguez06-29-04, 11:20 AM | Yes. All fashion designers, regardless of race, sex, creed, or nationality all sound exactly the same. This is because they all speak a secret language (like druids). A fashion designer is a core class available only in the decadent conclaves of Bourgeois materialists. |

| eudas06-29-04, 12:48 PM | You guys forgot one great title: Troubleshooter. eudas |
| lekpic06-29-04, 12:50 PM | - Burgler - Pack rat extraordinairre - the little guy |
| Brianish06-29-04, 01:19 PM | I haven't played it yet, but I've got a rogue in mind who has a backlog of five or six other created identities. I figure if he uses the same ones on a regular basis, his story can be confirmed, thus increasing his credibility. 8-) |
| FolcoTook06-29-04, 01:39 PM | Hmmm.... compile this all into one easy list and you could have the D&D version of Fletch. My old 1E Thief....And good day to you, sir. My name is Folco Took, citizen of the five shires, elf-friend, and humble merchant. I seek both rare knowledge and exotic items for purchase and trade, and I hope we may soon do business together. And he really did have a side business set up to fence, oops, uh I mean trade the goods acquired in his travels. -FT |
| preacher of nothing06-29-04, 03:07 PM | hey josh, don't forget to say "I'll have my people send you the bill" ;) |

| Sukugaru06-30-04, 01:53 AM | While it hasn't come up yet in game, my bandit 4 / rogue 1 character will describe himself as "I adventure, I explore, I fight a little, I know things, I learn things... I guess you could call me an odd-job man." "Dude, you just stabbed that guy in the [censored]." "Yeah, I do that from time to time, too." |

| FOOL07-04-04, 07:46 PM | "One who transffers ownership of choice items from one person to another" "Who me?" "My name is *insert your name here*" "My god your right! Who am I?!" Just stare at them |
| lekpic07-05-04, 03:38 PM | I stumbled across a thief in one of my favorite movies. His acknowledgement and his intorduction was quite interesting... "Peter, a humble pardoner and purveyor of religious relics." |
| danielinthewolvesden07-05-04, 04:17 PM | Well it depends- what does your party Fighter say when he is asked? Or your party Cleric or Wizard? Normally, of course, in character- few would say simply "I am a xxxxxxx". A fighter might say "mercenary", "sell sword", swordmaster, archer, etc. But since Rogue != Thief, there is no real reason why the party rogue would be need to be devious when telling folks his occupation. He's a pro and proud of it. |
| Lionel Styles07-05-04, 04:59 PM | "I sell soap." |
| The Master Weaver Is Warped07-05-04, 05:47 PM | the female rogue to the party hostess "I'm here to steal your jewels." Hostess to rogue's date "Oh Howard, she's precious. Where did you find her, you lucky dog?" |
| Ranthanas07-05-04, 06:30 PM | OK, so these were a spectacularly dishonest bard rather than a rogue. "A wandering minstrel, I" "The Lord High Executioner" (Glibness is wonderful) "The very model of a modern major general" "A purveyor of magic and spells" (Of course rogues can't do moderately complex spells...) "The keeper of the keys" (releasing people from prison) "I'm not the thief you're looking for" "I've been hired to provide entertainment at the feast" (of course he didn't say who he was hired by, or what the entertainment would be) The elvish for nobody (*Cosh* ("Who hit you?" "Nobody")) (Stolen from the Odessy) "Auditors!" "The royal courier" "I need to speak with your captain" "I've been hired to test the security" (and my pay's these gems) "The herald for the army of K'tark. You wouldn't believe how big it is" (one adventuring party) "Mr. Smith" "The ambassador from Thrull" (the "diplomatic bag" was a bag of holding) "The great and powerful OZ" "The paymaster general" (crippled an entire army that way) "There are some who call me ... Tim" Alas, there were too many who called him "you thieving bastard" and who finally caught up with him. |
| JohnSnow07-07-04, 05:54 PM | ""There are some who call me ... Tim" Priceless!! I like this topic...and it's especially neat since I've been playing a rogue in my most recent campaign. My character is aspiring to better his lot in life, and even spent a few years apprenticed to a knight. Some of my responses to date (some to "Who/What are you?" some to "how'd you learn that?")... Who?: "My name is Gareth, and I am Sir Argoth's apprentice." How?: "I used to be an acquisitioner of hard-to-obtain items." How?: "I like a challenge." What?: "A survivor...and an adventurer." What?: "A warrior, and explorer." What?: "A scout." How?: "Oh, I've picked up a few tricks here and there." How?: "Well, I wasn't always so respectable." Some I've toyed with... "Obtainer of rare antiquities." "Swordsman" (gotta wait until I can use more than a shortsword) "Expert." "Jack of all trades." "Troubleshooter." "Wanderer." One of our party members is my good comrade, the aspiring Paladin. We sparred a lot over the previous 5 years (since I left the Thieves' Guild as a youth and "relocated" to his home town). He's a pious knight in training, I'm more practical (much to the chagrin of my knightly mentor). Also, he keeps his word, whereas I'm less inclined to do so. He's somewhat familiar with my past, but not totally. I've always been a bit vague. However, we've just gone back to the town I was born in despite my misgivings (I haven't been "home" in 5 years). Should be interesting to see how it plays out. |
| lekpic07-16-04, 12:49 PM | From one of my newest favorite movies LXG... "I'm...complicated." |
| gleep07-16-04, 02:53 PM | I'm playing my first rogue in years... and so far, no one has asked. :D If anyone does, though... "Oh, I'm a diplomat in search of a kingdom." "Me? I'm just a kid. Why're you asking me?" "I'm just," points at the biggest fighter around, "his daughter." "Is that a trick question?" Holds up stuffed animal, "You'll have to talk to Mr. Huggles." Points at big fighter, "I'm with him." "I'm a follower of Corellion Larethian." (She's human, by the way.) "Can I have another cookie?" "Wow. You sure are tall." "I'm with," points at the bald dwarf with pointy ears, "him." "You know, people weren't so nosy in the crypts." "I sell gray ioun stones... want one?" Holds up one that's been painted nicely. "I'm just the maid... do you need more towels?" Of course... these responses depend on the sitation. :D --gleep |

| The_EvilDungeon_Master07-18-05, 09:52 PM | "er, I'm a handle things. I'd very much like to handle yours as well. Over there, where you aren't looking." Or, to quote a great thief, "You'd be surprised by the things people 'drop' and the frequency with which they are 'dropped' given their high monetary values. Coincidentally, I manage to find a great number of 'dropped' things. Then take them to a pawnshop.." Thief? AHEM! I prefer the term "treasure hunter"! |
| XIII07-19-05, 09:20 PM | My rogue is Rogue 3 / Sorceror 1 with Maxed Pick Locks, Disable Devices, and Craft : Locksmith 1. Most of my answers are very close to the true or the truth itself because i do work for the Twin Shadows Workshop and i do make errands for the authorities. We mainly play in a huge city and only get out on errands. I ended up answering in lots of differents ways : "I am from The Twin Shadows Workshop on behalf XXXX, we heard your vault needed some repair/test/" "I am Miriel Ravenlocks, Master Locksmith at your service!" "I'm the team motivator" "I do whatever is needed" "I'll do what you cant" to a teammate fighter "I'm a Master Locksmith here to make sure your travels are going to be safe" to the group and they still believe it. :D "I'm a Sorceror" of course i am! Most arent original, but no one on the team saw any other character sheets, so i played it out that way, the players DO know, but many PC still try to "protect" the "useless" Locksmith !! and that's been going on for 4 lv! Hope it stay that way for a few level, because i plan to take a few more level in Sorceror! |
| Dippiey07-19-05, 09:55 PM | " I am......... My self. ( Actually Mei Celf. NPC. I hate my DM. :) ) " " I am a friend." So what if I stole that from Drizzt. " I am not interested in you so please quit flirting with me and leave me to my bussiness!!!" Said by a player in my group to the city guard. It was great. " That depends.... who are you?" " A lowly man with a certain knack for achieving things that I probably should'nt." |
| golyrut11307-19-05, 10:05 PM | I'm GUMBY dammit!!!! |
| The Half-Orc Wizard07-19-05, 10:44 PM | Well, as all good rogues max out bluff, why not? "You may find this hard to believe, but I'm actually a lammasu who's been polymorphed into halfling form by an evil sorcerer. You know we lammasus are trustworthy, so you can believe me." At low levels, I perfer to use: "A prospector" "An oppurtunist" "Your humble servant" |
| AramilWindwalker07-19-05, 10:55 PM | Batman. Tsk tsk tsk, didn't you see the movie? Batman is a ninja! |

| The Master Weaver Is Warped07-20-05, 07:19 AM | Fade's new answer--"Retired, and a card carrying member of the Good Sam Club." From the guild master's daughter (a bard)--"Me? I'm just Daddy's little distraction." |
| Arquinsiel07-20-05, 08:40 AM | Skarri Njalsson, elven ranger/rogue/assassin - "*looks down his nose and touches a sword*" Marty: Uh, professional killer. Mr. Newberry: Good for you. Growth industry. (quote from Gross Point Blank)Excellent film. |
| CorSecJedi07-20-05, 03:24 PM | You guys forgot one great title: Troubleshooter. eudas Or the opposite of that...like, troublemaker! |
| DaveReaves07-20-05, 04:19 PM | Couple of my favorites: Wealth management consultant Opportunistic, entrepreneurial, commodities acquirement specialist "You go away or Krung stick you with poke stick." (Played a 6 INT Rogue once) Motivational speaker (was actualy a Bard who did a LOT of roguely things) Bikini inspector |
| Cadfan07-20-05, 07:05 PM | Attorney. The character really, really worked, too. It was kind of an "ordinary people who end up doing the extraordinary" campaign. |
| Kolo07-20-05, 07:21 PM | Backstabber. Might as well be honest about it. :D |
| Valgaav07-21-05, 04:38 AM | Bikini inspector y'know, for a silly campaign, that'd make an awesome prestige class. I think the best thing to do would be a non sequiter. "What do you do?" "Monkeys learn sign languages to tell dolphins they love them!" "um..." |
| SALDAR07-21-05, 08:17 AM | The Best.- Hazor, Ar Tel-Quessir of Evermeet, currently on Faerun. |
| Lyinginbedmon07-31-06, 07:07 PM | I am merely the facade you see before you, the visage of the character templated upon the performer. What you deem me to be is indeed to you precisely what I am. And at this moment, I can believe only one thing: That I terrify you. Precise, delicate, and useable for any character you care to make |
| Herald@Large07-31-06, 08:37 PM | "Myself." "No one of consequence." "Why, is there a problem?" "An adventurer." "One who desires no trouble." "One who means no harm." "I'll tell you my name if you tell me yours." |
| Darth Syntax07-31-06, 09:00 PM | OK, so these were a spectacularly dishonest bard rather than a rogue. "A wandering minstrel, I" "The Lord High Executioner" (Glibness is wonderful) "The very model of a modern major general" *sings* "When I was a lad I served a term as office boy to an attourney's firm . . . " *ahem* anyway . . . Excellent choices these. -- Now lets see more terms for a rogue rake scallawag tramp burglar fence merchcant diplomat scholar envoy ambassador My gestalt rogue/sorcerer refers to himself by several different terms depending on what he is currently up to: Occultist, Arcane Cosulting Detective, Cryptographer, Antiquarian, and coffee-shop regular. |
| Ashok_Lal07-31-06, 11:07 PM | "What do you do?" "i'm in the wealth redistibution buisness" "you mean you rob from the rich & give to the poor?" " No. I rob from the rich & pretty much keep it!" A cookie if you know the movie |
| ElSanto07-31-06, 11:45 PM | I can't believe that no one has done the classic mafia response. "I work in waste management." |
| Sphyre08-01-06, 04:55 AM | heh old thread... :P "There are those that mistake me for a variation of the color red." |
| metamind08-01-06, 02:12 PM | heh heh heh. I have maxed out ranks in bluff. I am whatever I want to be. Why, I could even be you. |
| Pangeon08-01-06, 02:36 PM | Yeah, old thread. (For the merc.) "Among other things, I'm for sale." (For those who like to be clever.) "Tounge-tied and twisted, just an Earth-bound misfit, I." (For the suspicious.) "I'm many things, who's asking?" (For the crafty.) "Just a poor beggar, sir, could you spare a copper perchance?" *rolls sleight of hand* (Simple.) "A traveller." |
| hollow_ghost08-01-06, 07:48 PM | "Stop making me repeat myself! It's bad for your health." "Here I am, the God of Death once more." "He runs, he hides, but he never lies. [insert name]!" "Anyone stupid enough to get near me dies!" cookie if you can tell me where these four above come from "Me? I am your bladder's bane." "You talkin to me? You must be talkin to me, cuz no one else is around. Know what happened to the last guy to talk to me?" "Me no speakas te Common." "Jackie Chan." "Chuck Norris." "Thy salvation!" |
| gorfnad the shiznit08-02-06, 07:50 AM | Some of the ones I've used. Vagabound Wandering Nomad Bookkeeper Wandering Merchant Haiduc Emissary of the Streets |
| geekling08-02-06, 07:59 AM | (For the merc.) "Among other things, I'm for sale." Errrrr... that could be missintepretated in so many bad ways, especially perhaps if the PC is female... or an elf. |
| WayneTheGame08-02-06, 08:19 AM | "Stop making me repeat myself! It's bad for your health." "Here I am, the God of Death once more." "He runs, he hides, but he never lies. [insert name]!" "Anyone stupid enough to get near me dies!" cookie if you can tell me where these four above come from Gundam Wing? "Here I am, the God of Death once more" and "Anyone stupid enough to get near me dies!" sounds like Duo Maxwell, but it's been a while since I watched the series (bought it for my ex as a birthday present) |
| hollow_ghost08-02-06, 05:47 PM | Gundam Wing? "Here I am, the God of Death once more" and "Anyone stupid enough to get near me dies!" sounds like Duo Maxwell, but it's been a while since I watched the series (bought it for my ex as a birthday present) :cookie: |

| Master of the Daemon Tide08-17-06, 09:43 PM | "My name is Lord Burns. I believe you have some gold for me?' "What is your first name, Lord Burns?" "I . . . don't know" ----------- "My name? Oh, dont try to put this on me, ths is about you." ----------- "To properly pronounce it, I would have to rip out your tongue." ----------- "In my language, a word's meaning differs depending on it's pitch. Now, in order for you to be able to pronounce my name properly, including the proper pitch, I would have to repeatedly slam your balls in a door. So, for your sake, I reccomend you call me George." ----------- "You don't know me, but I know who you are, Billy" "My name's not Billy" "Shut up." |
| CryoSilver08-17-06, 09:56 PM | I don't say anything about my profession. |
| JulesCARV08-17-06, 10:57 PM | Freelancer Agent Specialist Investigator |
| Steelwill08-18-06, 05:12 AM | Trap Bait, nothing more nothing less |
| Dolo08-18-06, 08:21 AM | Your best friend. I am...THE NIGHT!!! In the wrong place right now aparently :( The most honorable and upstanding Antioch Domi. A man of unreproachable trust.((Amazing what happens when people mis-interpet your intentions and think you are as Honorable as a Paladin. That character was CN and would rob you blind if it made sense, stab you if you made him mad, and overall didn't really care one way or the other. BUT I used that Reputation for all it was worth :D )) |
| NinjaE08-18-06, 11:02 AM | "I, myself, me." "Possibly, me, possibly you, possibly someone else, possibly someTHING else, but probably just me." "Canned quicksilver." "Your old pet turtle." *casts insanity* (shamelessly stolen from VTM: Bloodlines) "According to quantum theory, i may very soon be a FISH. So why would you care?" "That's... A really good question, really. Really deep. I'll try to contact you if I ever find an answer." "John Smith. Not a profession? How is bending Johns into funny shapes by smashing them with a hammer over a roaring furnace not a profession?" "Awesome. Pure, liquid awesome, straight from the elemental plane of awesome, sent to brighten your day and BLOW YOUR MIND." "Me? Oh, I'm the guy that regularly slits people's throats, steals their money, rapes their pets and eats their babies. It's a really interesting job. Except for the babies thingy; an awful lot of fat on those things. (obviously, you don't do this when you're in a zone of truth.)" "The guy that's going to leave this place wearing your skin as a MASK." "The second and superior line of defense against all the evils of the world." |
| JDubya08-18-06, 03:38 PM | I like the idea of the rogue who acts like a travelling cleric/preacher type. I might have to make use of that. "You can say Expert Treasure-Hunter instead of Burglar if you like. Some of them do. It's all the same to us." - Gloin, the Hobbit "We're not pirates - we're preemptive nautical salvage experts." - from somewhere on these boards "I'm a gambler, a farmboy, and I'm here to take command of your bloody army." - Mat Cauthon from the Wheel of Time, one of my favorite rogues. "Scoundrel? *Scoundrel?* I like the sound of that." - Han Solo Quartermaster, or Supply Officer. One of my characters goes by "her ladyship" - with the right social skills, a forged title of nobility, and a quick hand with her rapier, who's going to argue with her? |
| MistWolf08-19-06, 01:59 AM | "I am the Amazing Professor Victor von Due!" He wears a black cape, top hat and carries a cane. He's got plenty of skill in Sleight of Hand and the Stage Magician profession. He's also 16, short and skinny |
| kelvinaw27308-19-06, 05:00 PM | 4. YOU don't say anything. Get the leadership feat and a bard cohort. Use followers as chorus and or dancers. "He is Brave Sir Robin!" |
| GnomeMade08-19-06, 06:06 PM | "Who are you?" *Starts rattling off list of gnomish names until blue in the face or someone asks me to stop* "What do you do?" Oh, you know, the usual. "What is your profession?" Alchemist. Although usually people play me not to use it...can't imagine why...*Scratches head* Or Bard! Boy am I glad you asked! *starts playing badly until people pay me to stop* "What do you do for a living?" *If actually has any ranks in bard whatsoever* I watch things happen and report them to other people. Right now, I'm following this amazing group...you'd be amazed at what they have been doing in the crypts and the horrors they have seen...but I'm afraid that I'm not at liberty to discuss the details at the moment. A client has first rights to the story. I would have to be paid very highly *Introduce high sum of money here* to tell you in order to offset the cost of telling you the story first. or I'm rich, I live off the money exchange, I'm just slumming right now because I'm bored. |
| JellyPooga08-19-06, 08:44 PM | N/PC: so then, what do you do for a living Rogue: It's a secret... [sly grin] |
| MaplessManiac62008-20-06, 02:52 AM | "What am I? I'm just passing through." I had more than a couple characters rll Sense Motive on me for that one. |
| EvilDuck08-20-06, 07:40 AM | In order for people to question my calling, they have to be you know, not dead... |
| Starman IX08-20-06, 04:54 PM | "Lock and trap specialist" Always played with no thief background. Most of the time an apprentice locksmith. Though I can never explain how I learned the sneak attack :( "A bard" People gotta have day jobs. Not like I'm gonna be playing a violin in battle. They always have thief backgrounds. |
| Lyinginbedmon08-20-06, 10:05 PM | "Lock and trap specialist" Always played with no thief background. Most of the time an apprentice locksmith. Though I can never explain how I learned the sneak attack :( Well, locks, especially the more expensive ones, are usually extremely intricate. Perhaps the 'locksmith' spends so much time examining, designed, detailing, unlocking, locks that they begin to see parallels in the architecture of the living beings. That would give them info for a sneak attack, in theory. A tad philosophical, but it works  |
| Rickiel08-20-06, 11:07 PM | "Me? Why I'm just a meddling kid sir." "Miscreant I am!" "The black pearl of this oyster of a world." "Why milady, I just happen to be the locksmith to test that chastity belt of yours." "I'm Punk." (actually used that name once, Punkcious McGregor the Third to be precise) "Mr. Right." |
