Hi everyone!

I just have created a new group of players that play D&D(my first time)...
I am gonna play a mighty sorcerer, and maybe make an even mightier Dragon Decendant out of him somewhere at 20th or 25th level...
I have the abillity scores 10; 14; 16; 12; 10; 14...
Because the Dragon Decendant needs strength, I`ll put them on this order:

10(+0) int.
14(+2)const.
16(+3)Cha.
12(+1) str.
10(+0)wis.
14(+2)dex.

What do you suggest me to do further...because I have only the Players Handbook, I have not o much information...So if you suggest me to use a wildelf, please post the whole rules for him so that I know(the only thing that I know about them ist they give +2cha and -2 const.)
Maybe there are some specialized sorcerers(in the book about them, of which I actually don't know the name)...Again, please post the whole rules for the things you suggest me...and I would like to have some offensive spells in my reportoire(like finger of death, fireball and so on) and, again because of the Dragon Decendand, some uppowering spells...
What starting equipment him to give weapos and so...
And anything else...would ya be sokind Pleeeesse!

Edit: and it would be nice to give the name of the book, where I fnd that...

He's averagely intelligent and wise (10 INT and WIS), but his physical stats are very good (12 STR and 14 CON and DEX). Combined with his high charisma, it points towards the sort of sorcerer who isn't afraid to get down and dirty with things. He's probably relatively brave, being somewhat tough, and he strikes me as the sort who'd walk into battle to use up close and personal spells like burning hands and color spray.

If you want to take that perspective, you could give him a spear or mace (nothing says your sorc has to carry a staff, after all), and give him some ranks in Concentration. If you're going to play him in a position where he may be attacked, you may want to take the feat Combat Casting, and remember you can cast "on the defensive" so as to avoid taking attacks of opportunity. Touch spells like Shocking Grasp could be put to good use here.

Of course, playing a sorcerer up close is dangerous, so it might be smarter to simply hang out in the back. If that's the case, you may want to invest in a good crossbow or bow and use your good dexterity to inflict some damage from afar, when not casting spells, that is.

Overall, the character looks good. Good luck on your adventure. :)

As I already said, I plan to make a Dragon Decendant of him, so that he might power himself up and then get into close combat...hwewer, in the beginning of the game, shall I give him a raged weapon?
A wildelf looks very usefu for a Sorcerer, but I don't know the ules for him...nor do I know the book where that is written...and I would want to know something about the adjustmenst written about sorcerers in their extra book...

I don't have any books with the wild elf race in them, but it does sound like something that could potentially help your character. My advice as a DM would be to take a look at the rest of the party. If you have lots of fighters, barbarians, monks, and other melee warriors, you ought to go with ranged. If you have lots of range or weaker characters, take the toughness feat, arm yourself with a decent weapon, and wade into combat. :D

I know the wildelf out of Icewimd Dale 2...
I can`t ask my DM because he is a beginner like me...that sounds dumb, but we have no choice, because we are all about 14, and no experienced DM wants to play with us...

I say stick with human. It's simple, and you get more skills and an extra feat out of it. Or if you want, go elf and you could be better with ranged combat.

Personally though, I'm more partial to human characters. :D

I thought wild elves had -2 int +2 dex.... oh well. Can't really see why they should have higher charisma.

Otherwise, seems nice enough. I prefer cowardly wizards, but that's me.

Are you talking about the Dragon Disciple PrC? I've never heard of the Dragon Descendant

I would be interested to see how a melee sorcerer works in combat. Though i cant help thinking that a bard would fit that role much better. I imagine a sorcerer would have to multiclass with fighter for a level to pull it off properly though. Then at least you can put on some chunky armour.

The sorcerer's extra spells would make up for the odd one lost to the armour's failure chance, i would have thought. There is, from the kalamar book, a sorcerer called the spellsong, whose spells are all verbal only. That i would propose as a better approach for this sort of thing.

With your INT...

DONT get a familiar...

...Its really embarrising when they become more intelligent than you at higher levels!

(Wiz  to Sorc  : How did the weasel beat you at Chess?!)

(But theyre cheap and cute and will talk to you when no one else will! - im refering to the weasel not the wizard)

Also a low INT really hamstrings flexibility in Skill development. Early on not so important but can hurt higher up. You will need to select a direction for the character to help in concentrating skills (with concentration being a good one if your going the combat route).
