| mekanitz01-05-07, 05:29 PM | I am putting it up to you guys on this one. Put in your input on one of my characters I have run for 7 years off and on. Should I let him remain evil or redeem him. A little background. Jonas Josiah Trivast was born to nobility. He was raised within the church of the house... The Light of Bahamut. It was believed that one of their ancestors was a Silver dragon... (Aasimar race) and so Good was infused in the family. He naturally became a Paladin of Bahamut. The years wore on as he journeyed with his companions across Faerun. They defeated a great threat to the land from an evil Druid (he was going to rid the world of civilization.) This earned them an audience with a nobleman from Dragonhome. They journeyed around the sea and had many adventures along the way. Once there, Jonas was asked to join the Vassals of Bahamut. (The nobleman was a Silver in disguise) He defeated a Young red in single combat (Traps and nets are not against Code. They are intelligent Tactics when Monster hunting as our DM plays dragons as extreme Bad A's) And so this man of Light and Good and Stuff went out unto the world reborn as a man of Shinier Light and Good and Stuff. Now he and his friends defended a beholder's lair from invading Calimshanians.(Exalted do not allow Invaders of any kind including other Zealous adventurers. And as this beholder was not killing any townsfolk or raising undead or torturing prisoners or any other evil deed other than existing. The paladin decided to assist in defense. The other party would not see reason and continued its aggression. They were summarily defeated though allowed to live and leave.) The tales of these men reached far and wide and thus the folk of Waterdeep requested the presence of these 'off color' hereos. They helped defend the city from an army of undead and were sent to discover it's source... there, in the wilds Jonas met his fate... A rogue sorceror charmed his companions and they slew him as he could only defend himself. So was the death of a hero... but not the end of his tale. The betrayal hung heavy upon his soul... how powerful the Dark Side was. How easily swayed men were. (Tiamat keeps a close eye on all Vassals of her Foe) The companions journeyed to resurrect the hero. But as they left his body behind, a necromancer stumbled upon it. He called upon his dark Deity to give him a suitable servant... and Tiamat used this opportunity to bring about one of her own. So arise did Jonas... a death knight. His hate for the chaos of life filled him with unlife. And the party reached their goal only to find that the spell was unsuccessful. They divined only to discover that their comrade had risen as a greater undead. They journeyed to stop him and end his wicked existence. The mass battle was long and arduous and the horrid NPC Slew the fallen Hero... He was killed thank ye gods in the ensuing conflagration of Eldritch flame... and Jonas was left standing, a mere mortal and no longer the powerful Vassal he once was. He fled, scared and alone, with no deity to guide him. He has since created a mercenary unit and has fallen into evil. (Blackguard) The kicker is this... He redeems as he can't escape his own lineage, good is inherent in his "genes." or He stays evil and tyrannical as he believes that no man is strong enough to withstand the evil of magic and the gods. He believes that it is time to do something. Mainly because I want the character to adventure again. Some event that will turn him one way or the other. Scenarios and votes if you please would be greatly appreciated.:thinks: |

If he was genetically 'Good" then why was he evil for so long? What is that he believes needs to be done in the face of magic and the gods? Does he want to destroy magic? Kill gods? Do you want to game with your group, who seem to be mostly good characters, or do you want to play the BBEG of the next portion of the campaign so the character's former comrades will have to kill the character? |
