| Rillek_Denar03-06-07, 10:36 PM | Anyone know a way to make a half-giant not have the type "Giant"? I'm looking for a way to make on eligable for enlarge person. |
| AffableDoomwalker03-06-07, 10:43 PM | You have just confused me in a mighty magical way. Care to clarify/elaborate? |
| Rillek_Denar03-06-07, 10:46 PM | The race "Half-Giant" in ExPsiHand is not a humanoid, it is a giant. As such, it is not elligable to be the target of spells that target only humanoids, like "enlarge person". Dig? |
| twad03-06-07, 11:09 PM | Anyone know a way to make a half-giant not have the type "Giant"? I'm looking for a way to make on eligable for enlarge person. Bestow curse? |
| Rillek_Denar03-06-07, 11:10 PM | Is that an explicitly stated use? |
| twad03-06-07, 11:14 PM | Is that an explicitly stated use? English isnt my primary language... so i didnt understand what you asked.. But if it is it.. i meant that you use "bestow curse" to place a enlarge person permanently on your target.. if it is possible. (That spell is quite versatile, so maybe it can) |
| Rillek_Denar03-06-07, 11:15 PM | But curses (if I am correct) are negative, yes? Enlarge person is usually a good thing... |
| twad03-06-07, 11:26 PM | Well.. that depends on what you are going to play.. its good for a melee dude, not for a caster (you stand out) for example.. Maybe it just makes you a lot taller, but not bigger/stronger.. |
| Rillek_Denar03-06-07, 11:33 PM | Since my DM will be well aware of my intention to be a fighter type... |
| KillerVole03-06-07, 11:39 PM | If you add enough templates, you may be able to change your type, but probably not to humanoid. You could try wish, to gain an exception to the "affect humanoids only" part of the spell, but if your DM thinks you're trying to powergame, he likely won't allow it. |
| JulesCARV03-07-07, 12:33 AM | What class is the half-giant? Since half-giants have psychic warrior as their favored class, the obvious solution is to take a few level of psychic warrior to get Expansion but you don't seem to have that in mind. |
| Rillek_Denar03-07-07, 12:40 AM | JulesCARV, you're a life-saver. I can take Hidden Talent to gain this one power, then mono-class as a soul knife, eventually having the ability to use two of the mentallic short-swords at 2d6 each. [shudders in ecstacy] |
| Daydreamer03-07-07, 01:16 AM | This isnt an issue of racism. Its an attempt at munchkinism... i sure would not allow this, and i cant think of rules as written that would. |
| Rillek_Denar03-07-07, 01:31 AM | Daydreamer, learn the difference between powergaming and munchkining. |
| Rillek_Denar03-07-07, 01:32 AM | Anyway, JulesCARV's solution gives me a way to totally avoid such twistiness. |
| Daydreamer03-07-07, 01:39 AM | well, i dont care for either, but im glad you found a way withen the rules to satisfy ur ambition. |
| DeathsAudit03-07-07, 06:38 AM | Is enlarge person a 1st level spell? If so enlarge monster should be like charm monster. |
| _Jayne_Cobb_03-07-07, 12:09 PM | If you want to make a half-giant bigger why not just play a giant? |
| JulesCARV03-07-07, 12:17 PM | If Rillek_Denar were a real munchkin, I doubt he'd be playing a soulknife ;). |
| Rillek_Denar03-07-07, 01:01 PM | That's a fact! I kinda wanted to avoid high LAs or Moster HD. Also, as I have now figured, I can use Hidden Talent, with my racial reserve, to become a large creature with a huge weapon 4/day. And if I ever want more, I can take Psionic Talent. So, 4/day, my appropriately sized psionic bastard sword is dealing 3d6, or I have the equivalent of two greatswords, both light weapons. Just what I wanted. :D |
| Far_Traveler03-07-07, 05:17 PM | your huge bastard sword is doing 3d8 |
| Rillek_Denar03-07-07, 05:31 PM | Oops... Errr, blame the error on my DM (he rules the world, so he gets all the blame). 3d8 sounds finger-lickin' good. |
