Looking to strike a balance between fitting the concept of the character and being effective for combat.

I have been allowed to rebuild my character (because the previous build allowed outlandish sources and became game-breaking). In an effort to salvage the campaign, I have offered to remake the character without all the strange extra abilities he was allowed (he depended on those extra abilities he was allowed, which is part of why a rebuild is needed).

My current build is Paladin 5/Sorcerer 1/Abjurant Champion 5/Eldritch Knight 7, so my spells are as a 12th level Sorcerer (with a caster level of 17).

The concept of the character is a former martial demonologist whose knowledge of binding and warding keeps evil forces at bay. Yet I want to avoid him being defined by what he opposes - he is a guardian of the innocent, well suited to that purpose regardless of the evil that threatens.

Combat style will lean more to the martial side. Bedecked in Twilight Full Plate (though will upgrade it to mithril, yes, I can do that) and armed with a greatsword. He will make the most of combining Arcane Boost with Smite Evil and Swift Extended Abjurations with Share Spells to also protect his mount.

So what spells should I pick? Of each level. Any spells with only V or V, M components would interest me greatly so they are easy to cast in armour (thinking Blur, Dimension Door, Shout, Geas). Abjurations are obviously welcome. Useful Abjurations for 1st-3rd level spells with practical applications in combat espescially.

All suggestions for spell lists are welcome. Please list the components for the spells (V or V, M or V, S or V, S, M etc, mention if the material component is expensive). PHB, PHB2, Complete Mage, Complete Arcane and the like are accepted. Possibly BOED as well, but generally lean away from the more exotic sources.

I would prefer to avoid making him the standard "artillery piece" sorcerer. A warding and protective spellcaster who binds his foes strikes me as more interesting. Though I don't want his magic to be limted to 'one-trick' status.

Thankyou.
