03-11-06, 09:50 PM On the multi-class note about cavaliers, it said "a paladin who becomes a cavalier may continue to advancing as a paladin."

So does that mean that he gains levels as paladin as he does cavalier? (I know this is most likely not the case, but it was the first thing that crossed my mind.)

03-11-06, 10:19 PM No, it means that the paladin multiclassing restriction doesn't apply to Cavalier levels.

03-12-06, 12:59 PM Only for the purpose of XP penalties. A paladin who, say, takes a level of hunter of the dead can never take another paladin level.

03-12-06, 01:19 PM The normal rule for monks and paladins is:

If you multi-class, you can never take anymore levels in monk or paladin again (there are exceptions to this rule but we'll stick with this basic premise).

So as an example:
If you have a level 1 paladin/monk who chooses to take fighter as his next level, then that PC can never go back to take more levels of paladin/monk again.

Cavalier simply lifts this restriction.

So a Paladin who chooses to multi-class into the Cavalier prestige class can later go back to gaining levels to Paladin.
