| Throg08-30-06, 08:26 PM | Now my friends have been telling me that when you attempt to sunder a magic weapon that you can only sunder a weapon of equal or lesser total enhancement value. I've scoured the books and haven't found any proof of this, the only thing I could find was that magic increases it's hardness and hitpoints. Anyone care to help tell me if this is true or not? Of course I understand that attacking a magic weapon and trying to sunder it is stupid, that's part of the treasure value overall. I just plan on sundering the fotter's weapons and not the big bad guy's, maybe his shield if it's a big problem. |
| ff6shadow08-30-06, 08:43 PM | Ive never seen anything like that. I do know that magical weapons have an increased amount of hardness and HP for every +1, which would make it harder. |
| Seerow08-30-06, 08:46 PM | That was a 3.0 rule. |
| Throg08-30-06, 10:25 PM | So you're sure that it's no longer in effect then? If so, I better tell my dm that. Remember which 3.0 book it was in? |
| Aeromus08-30-06, 10:53 PM | PHB and DMG |
| Mitchell08-30-06, 11:26 PM | From the SRD: Hardness and Hit Points Each +1 of enhancement bonus adds 2 to a weapon’s or shield’s hardness and +10 to its hit points. The "must have an equal or greater enhancement bonus" was a 3.0 rule. The above is all that applies now. |
| Throg08-31-06, 08:29 AM | Alright, we still have a few old books lieing around so if they question me, I'll tell them that it was only a 3.0 rule that got scrapped. Thanks, they were trying to feed me that it was an obscure rule that they found and couldn't find again. |
| Nom08-31-06, 09:16 AM | The rule inadvertantly made it into the weapon (but not shields & armour) text for the 3.5 DMG, pg 222 (top-left corner). It was subsequently errataed out to be identical to the shields & armour rules: +2 hardness, +10 hp, no special conditions (DMG pg 217). The rule also appears on PH pg 165, and there is +2/+10. |
