Hi everyone
I play a rogue he is now lvl 4 , so at 3rd lvl i got uncanny dodge , if i read and read more time the explanation in the PHB the only way that i lose my dexterity is if i am pin down or completely immobilise. So i m wondering if i just fell on the ground do i lose my dexterity when an attacker try to hit me or do i still have it cause of my special ability

If a character falls down, I guess they would be considered "prone." Prone characters do not lose their dex bonus. They have other penalties associated with being on the ground such as penalties to AC, to hit, etc. (I don't have the books in front of me so I don't know the exact penalties).

As an added note, there are other ways to bypass Uncanny Dodge. Feinting (See Bluff Skill) can cause a character with uncanny dodge to lose their dex bonus. Blindness may cause you to lose your dex bonus since Uncanny Dodge lets you keep your dex bonus when surprised or attacked by an invisible target (or something like that). I'm not sure if darkness could also bypass Uncanny Dodge but I'm guessing yes. Maybe someone else on the boards could list ways of bypassing Uncanny Dodge. *shrug*

Notice the blatant inconsistency? You lose your DEX bonus to AC when blind because you don't need your sight to dodge normally?

In your situation, you are prone. Being prone does not even normally negate your DEX bonus to AC, and thus it wouldn't if you had Uncanny Dodge as well.

Greghund, like the previous posters said, being prone does not negate your Dex bonus to AC.

Also, the uncanny dodge ability is now given at 4th level rogue in 3.5.

But I just realised that you're 4th level anyway so whatever.

With Uncanny Dodge you don't loose your Dex bonus when blinded or in darkness, just think of your opponent having a different kind of invisibility. As stated, a bluff(feint) can open your defense and you can still be flanked. Some other physical impeddiments can cause you do lose your dex bonus (read the descriptions) but just being unable to see your opponent does not.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Uncanny Dodge say that you retain your Dex bonus even when flat-footed?

Doesn't that mean that combat options such as feinting, and feats like Flick of the Wrist won't work on a Barbarian or Rogue, considering that the feat/maneuver specifically states that the opponent is caught flatfooted?

I mean, if you're still caught flatfooted cos you got feinted, then Uncanny Dodge can also be called Bonus Feat: Blindfight.

Chasmodai, you may be correct about feinting (would need to read up the rules) and thus keep your dex bonus but I do believe that it is (if successful) a legal way to use sneak attack. Also you normally don't loose your dex from being flanked but rogues can still sneak attack you. Confusion occurs because sneak attacks can happen when a character is not flat footed and UD doesn't initially allow protection from those situations. Generally, uncanny dodge allows a character to keep their dex bonus in most situations.

Uncanny Dodge does compare to the defensive aspects of the Blindfight feat but doesn't provide the extra offense the feat provides (roll twice vs. auto miss).
