I am a DM of a campaign where 3 chracters made various elves from the Forgotten Realms Handbook and the other made a human fighter, whom made some racey comments about elves and druids and did silly things that angered the druid, leading up to the point where they (druid and rogue at least) killed the fighter. In making a new character, he wants to aim for arcane archer and wants to get there as soon as he can, and makes a fighter/sorceror and picks Drow for his race. Me being a new DM decides to allow him be a half brother of Drizzt, Drizzt rescuing from the evils of his home town, but would rather be alone and wants to leave his the PC with the party where he would be more use. I did this thinking it might increase his chances rp wise to let him, but apparently they are saying that Drizzt will kill them if he dies. (So far this is out of the game, in the game Drizzt is going to go by common sense and say things happen while adventuring, so he would come like a mad axe man after them if he dies in battle...)

But what else can I do, one of the players suggest Drizzt bribing them, but that is not Drizzt and so I am trying to make it a good encounter so they won't be afraid to take him in, but think twice about killing off another of his characters. Also the drow worships Elistrae if that helps.

It sounds like you just have a troublesome player to me. Sadly, there will always be some players who take the "rebel without a cause" stance, sabotaging things for no good reason other than "because I can."

First off, I would take him aside and ask him to tone it down a bit. Saying or doing outrageous things that offend or provoke the other characters is no way to have cohesion or integrity within the party. And him having fun at the other players' expense will only create strife within the group.

you are talking about the person playing the druid, correct?

Ok let me see what I can do.

1. You should never let you players have there characters be related to a powerful NPC (Drizzt, Elmister, just about anyone in a book)

2. From what little I know about Drow soceity, I think Drizzt would at least a couple half-brothers, and I don't think he cares much about them.

3. What aligment is the PC?

4. You can always just say that he and Drizzt don't get along too well.

5. One more thing, how would Drizzt know he died anyways?

The PC is chaotic good, converted to Eilestrei, which is why Drizzt rescued him.
#4 good idea
#5 good point
#1 I know that now
But thanks.

No problem, we've all had our share of players (whether other people or ourselves) who want to make copy of some guy they read about in a book (that's why there in a book), movie, or something like that.

Yep. Your best bet is to kill Drizzt. Then finish off the bastard drow :D

I think the real problem here is the other players, who killed off one of their own companions becuase he made some smart-*ssed comments, etc.

Don't let anyone- esp this guy- play a Drow of any sort, in a game where the other players as elves killed a human. Elves can pretty well be justified in killing a Drow on sight.

You could even justify them attacking Drizzt on sight. Using his name would be the perfect ploy for evil drow to go about on the surface!

Guard: "DIE foul dark elf!"
Evil Drow: "It's cool, I'm Drizzt."
Guard: "Well, OK, come in the city then."
