WindOwl 04-17-05, 03:31 PM	Ok, so, hypothetically, I have a 1st level Rogue with 4 ranks in Use Magic Device. He takes a level of Wizard. The Wizard, who could normally put 1/2 ranks into Use Magic Device, finds his ranks to be 4 out of 2.5. Can he put a 1/2 rank into it, making it 4.5, or is he stopped by the cap of 2.5?
Heahengel 04-17-05, 03:36 PM	My understanding is that when one of your classes has a skill as a class skill, then you max number of ranks is always 3+level, but when gaining ranks in it when leveling a class that does not have it as a class skill, you still must pay the 2pts/rank.
WindOwl 04-17-05, 03:53 PM	I just found this in the SRD. Thanks. Skills: If a skill is a class skill for any of a multiclass character’s classes, then character level determines a skill’s maximum rank. (The maximum rank for a class skill is 3 + character level.)
