| erendor the True05-20-05, 02:07 PM | Let's get straight to 'da bizness'. I'm playing in an online game (and the next session is quite soon, but that has no bearing on my question), and am playing a level four halfling monk. A little bit of an odd choice, I know, but he's actually got some very nice saves and move silently/hide checks. Anyway. I've based him around the fact that he's very curious, and wants to know as much as he can. He's a bit of an odd halfling, in that regard, and so joined a monastery, in order to get prepared for adventuring. Etc etc. He came in last session, when he was found by spiders, having been webbed up and his previous NPC companions killed, and I had a fair bit of fun roleplaying his shock and general 'wooziness' (he said "Things" a lot, for a while. "What are you things with the thing doing near these things? Where are the things? You know, the things with the things, got captured by things." Stuff like that.). Anyway, enough about his history, and on to his character design. Since I'm wanting him to be a very curious and well-prepared character, he has sunrods, a bag of tricks, several healing potions, some manacles, one of those feather swan boats, and a mage hand. All very resourceful. My question is: Does anyone know any other possibilities for items, and for advancement generally? Once again, he's a level four halfling monk, and I'm trying to grow him into a very curious character. So I'm looking for prestige/base classes that emphasise things like this. (I was thinking Mindspy for a while, but I went and checked it and you need detect thoughts. And Loremaster needs magic-spell things, the likes of which would take me a fair while to achieve. Any ideas? A Bard, perhaps, and I just now caught sight of the Horizon Walker, which looks like a fun prestige class (DMG, Pg189), and fairly fitting. So...suggestions? |

Ingame, wizards are supposed to be the best educated, aside from a few clerics and rogues. Intelligence is the main thing, though. Could we get your stats? It would make it a bit easier. |

(And I'm downright proud of my hide and move silently checks. +15 and +13, respectively. Ah, to be a halfling monk.) Str 16 Dex 18 Con 14 Int 14 Wis 16 Cha 12 |

I know there's one out there, probably CA or something. Personally, I would have either started as a wizard, and at level two or three, moved to monk, or I would go to 16th as a monk, and then multiclass. Do you want to keep going in a monkish line, or branch out some? |
