Ok, I'm currently playing in a Shackled City campaign, with 3 other players. Now the DM has allowed us to have 2 characters each, no idea why, he just has. However my friend is still only on one character, and doesn't know what to choose.

Currently in the group we have

Rensa: Azurin Psychic Warrior 2/ Druid 4 (Next level hes going into Sanctified Mind)
Arthae: Elf Ranger 3/ Scout 3 (Favoured Enemies are elves and undead)
Aramil: Half-Elf Duskblade 3/ Warblade 3
Legna: Human Swordsage 6
Thobir: Dwarf Crusader 6
Taklinn: Dwarf Cleric 6
Clarena: Elf Wizard 6 (possibly going into Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil)

So what do you think would work well with this party?

A Bard. A whole lotta melee's in that group, and a bard with maxed out Inspire Courage would be perfect. I'd check the CO boards for some crazy bard builds, as I can't remember all the combo's off hand.

A Monk.

@ Shadowshimmer: The SM doesn't really like monks, he thinks they suck a little, so he allows swordsage with the monk unarmed damage.

@ Ace_of_Time: A Dragon Shaman could be useful, we've never had one before, I'lldefinetly suggest that to him.

@ MagickHobo: A bard could be useful as at the minute, we're not killing our way through just talking our way out of fights and problems. The problem is he doesn't like spells that much, so is there a variant without them?

Thanks for the ideas so far, keep 'em coming

Could try Art instead of Bard if he doesn't like spells. They are always fun to play. Plaus they can take a 10 on UMD checks, plus some other cool things they can do with wands and the like.

How about a Divine Mind? they don't get many powers, and rely on Mantle Auras for the most part - which is fantastic for buffing.

Or, take rogue with social skills maxed. A changeling would give you a great intrigue-based character.

Another arcane or divine spellcaster wouldn't be a bad choice either. The cleric would probably appreciate some help with healing in a party that large, and extra arcane spellcasting is always helpful when running into those large groups of baddies. I'd probably suggest a druid, sorcerer, or favored soul (since the group already has wizard and cleric, those would be a little different). Although if the DM doesn't like spells, none of that would probably be a great idea.
