Aging Undead??? [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-18-05, 08:39 AM Hi, I was going to make a Necropoliton for an upcoming campaign and had a couple questions...

1.) Undead do not age as normal correct? I was thinking though that shouldn't they still recieve the mental adjustments for aging but not the penalties. My reasoning is, an Intelligent Undead still learns and experiences things hence gaining the mental score adjustments, but their body shouldn't receive the negative adjustment since it doesn't suffer from old age. Is this true?

2.) If the above is true, would a character who is already "old" we'll say (-3 Str,Dex,Con & +2 Int,Wis,Cha) who is turned into an intelligent undead, would they lose the penalty to their physical scores due to becoming undead?

Any help on this is appreciated.

03-18-05, 08:43 AM I thought that becoming undead changed your abilitiy scores entirely. I could be wrong, but that was my impression.

Well, as far as the Necropoliton goes, it only gives you the basic Undead traits. This only removes your Constitution Score but I can't find anything else about the effects of age and the undead.

Does my point not seem logical as far as a non-RAW look at it goes?

03-18-05, 09:33 AM Yeah, it makes sense to me. I was just pointing out some justification for why aging during life wouldn't affect stats as an undead.

Yeah, I agree with you that the penalty to Str, Dex, and Con shouldn't affect them, but if Intelligent, I wouldn't see a reason why they still wouldn't recieve the bonus for being old since they still learn and gain experience.

Anyone else, have any concrete information on this or an opinion of thier own?
