| madbomb05-23-06, 02:01 AM | My char is a monk that can bypass most DRs and I have been trying to tell and show my DM that for the alignment DR that you need the opposite alignment to bypass it (ie you need good to bypass evil, lawful to bypass chaotic, etc), but he wont listen and says he doesn't want me to bring it up and he is a DM that follow by the books. Anyone have any suggestions (other than make a new char). |
| MerlintheTuna05-23-06, 02:31 AM | DR/Evil requires being hit by an evil attack to avoid damage reduction. DR/Lawful means any attack that is not lawful-aligned is subject to damage reduction. DR/- means everything gets reduced. These are the basic rules of damage reduction. Here's your link. (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/specialAbilities.htm#damageReduction) |
| madbomb05-23-06, 03:06 AM | hmm, a book that a looked at says it is different for the aligned. but another book has it the way you said it... man these books got error, but yeah i was wrong... so thanks for point that out |

Angels have DR/Evil, Deamons DR/Good, so holy weapons hurt deamons more, huzza! |

If you want another way of getting around Damage Resistance for your monk, I suggest buying the XPH and take Wild Talent and then the Fist of Zuoken PrC. Now you are psionic you can take Aligned Attack as a feat, or if you pick up Complete Psionic and take the third level power Stygian Bane, which will make your weapons (your hands and feet) Undead Bane weapons with the Good descriptor. I would also consider Fists of Iron and Axiomatic Strike from Complete Warrior. |
| Celestial_Gold_Dragon05-23-06, 06:01 AM | So how does the blood-war get fought, a hoard of good aligned weapons? |
| Selebius05-23-06, 08:27 AM | So how does the blood-war get fought, a hoard of good aligned weapons? Nope, most of the time not. It's hard, bloody and very frustrating for both sides but IMO more for the Tanar'ri- no Balor can bypass a Pit Fiends regeneration making Mariliths which have align weapon as a SLA important. Sel |
| Witch05-23-06, 08:44 AM | So how does the blood-war get fought, a hoard of good aligned weapons? Creatures which have DR X/good can overcome DR X/good as well with natural weapons. |
| Morwen05-23-06, 09:07 AM | Creatures which have DR X/good can overcome DR X/good as well with natural weapons. That is not correct. Creatures with DR X/magic treat their natural weapons as magical weapons for purposes of overcoming DR. Creatures with an alignment subtype treat their natural weapons as being of that subtype for purposes of overcoming DR. So, most fiends can overcome DR X/evil, since they have the evil subtype, but they tend to have DR X/good. |
| Witch05-23-06, 09:09 AM | Apparently I was wrong. My apologies. |
