The character seems like he's got very little personality so far, which is what stymies me. Character info: Name: Daras Race: Human Class: Fighter (Archery feats) Age: 19 Mental Stats: INT 12, WIS 10, CHA 8 Backstory: Until now, Daras has spent his whole life in the big city. His father worked his way up the ranks of the city guard; now he is the captain of his own squad. His mother spent her days doing embroidery for noblewomens' dresses, and gossiping voraciously with the neighbors. When he came of age, Daras followed his father into the city guard, training as an archer and then taking watch on the city walls. It was a quiet posting; most of the trouble--usually, it's goblins--occurred outside the city, in the farmlands where the people were most vulnerable to raids. After he had spent a year as a guardsman, Daras's family received a message from his mother's relatives. Daras's elderly great-aunt, who lived in a city some distance away, had lost her husband and now had no one to support her; could they help? Daras's father had no great amount of wealth; so he persuaded his reluctant son to leave the city to live with his great-aunt. With a letter of recommendation written by his commander and hopes of finding another position as a guardsman once he arrived at the new city, Daras set out on the road. Daras is a quiet young man who spends much time practicing archery; he keeps his room neat and his weapons in good order. When he is with others, he can be seen sitting and listening to the conversation, smiling a little and not saying very much. The most likely impression one would have of him is that he is steady, dependable, and, perhaps, just a little boring. |

| draco111911-19-06, 10:45 AM | I agree with LN, but I'd say St. Cuthbert, since he's an alternate deity for militia/guardsmen. You didn't happen to go to CLHS, did you? I remember reading on of your posts that reminded me of where I went to school... |
| blackjackg11-19-06, 05:05 PM | Definitely LN (maybe tending toward LG), and worships either St. Cuthbert or Heironeous. In either case, he probably wouldn't be particularly devout, it's just what he grew up with. |
| Callista11-19-06, 07:39 PM | Lawful neutral. Out of the core deities, Ehlonna. Why Ehlonna? She's a nature-type goddess... I'm not sure this would make sense for a city boy. I wonder, though--if I put an atypical god/dess onto this character sheet, might it help me edit the backstory so it doesn't seem so vanilla, because I'd have to explain the weird choice of deity? Hmm. |
| The White Sorcerer11-19-06, 08:34 PM | Why Ehlonna? Archery. I was going to suggest St. Cuthbert at first, but then I remembered Ehlonna's favored weapon. |

| Salla11-19-06, 10:35 PM | Lawful Neutral or Lawful Good. I don't see much in the background that indicates any particular spiritual bent, want, or need, so no need for a deity. |
