| Karish12-22-06, 11:58 PM | Yup. Karish sucks at assigning alignments for his characters. AND SO I ASK YOU AGAIN FOR AID, O 1337ER-THAN-ME PEOPLE. My current character in question is Adoven, an elven fighter with the possibility to multiclassing to rogue. Now, the question is, what the fark is the alignment of a creature who... - ...will steal if he feels there is some need to do so, but typically only from richer or greedier persons. - ...has no problem with killing others, but only does so when attacked or if the person has otherwise "earned" it by comitting evil acts. - ...is willing and somewhat eager to deal with murderers/rapists/evildoers, both for the sake of rewards and of ending their wickedness. - ...has some respect for legitimate authority, but considers them equal to others and not deserving of preferrence or automatic trust and respect. - ...has no problem lying, cheating, stealing, or killing to achieve his goals when dealing with criminals and wicked persons. - ...can at times be merciless, cruel, and bloodthirsty towards opponents. - ...holds certain "laws" which he keeps himself to (no killing innocent women/children, no raping, no stealing from the needy, etc.) but generally ignores other laws. Well, that's basically the stuff I think will have an effect on his alignment. His general personality and attitude towards people, if it is anything you want/think important are listed here though. - Aggressive (UA Trait): Adoven considers offense to be the key factor of battle, and tries to attack first and hit hard. - Distinctive (UA Trait): Adoven has a dark scar running over his left eye which has removed it, and is covered by a patch. In addition, his right eye is very distinct, having two thin, slitted pupils. - Adoven can be jovial at some times and serious at others. Typically, he is seen as being a serious man and speaks only in an attempt to gather information, threaten, or when asked a question. However, his ego and his generally happy attitude in life cause him to become a much more open person when not on the job, acting more human than elven. He will often tell stories of his adventures and the exploits of the companions he has been with at the local taverns, as well as boast about his abilities in combat. And there you have it! I'd appreciate a response, and perhaps an explanation of you answer if you deem it necessary. ^_^ |
| pres_man12-23-06, 12:26 AM | Neutral. |
| Karish12-23-06, 12:29 AM | Thanks for the input! :D |
| Vikjunk12-23-06, 01:41 AM | I would say they would be Chaotic Good. The characters primary concern seems to be to protecting others after all. The character just seems like they are willing to do things that some might seem morally questionable to achieve it. But nothing seems to stand out as overly questionable other then being willing to kill to achieve it but would really count on the situation of the killing. But the character could be also considered Neutral or even Evil counting how far the character is willing to go to stop a criminal, like if they where willing to torture and maim a criminal to get information to just lead to the leader of the group he wants to eliminate. |
| Tenebrous_Sage12-23-06, 03:38 AM | Chaotic Good or Chaotic Neutral probably, I can see arguments for True Neutral though. |
| High Octane12-23-06, 02:18 PM | Yup. Karish sucks at assigning alignments for his characters. I just have to say when I see this statement I hear the voice of Duffman. "DUFFMAN....CANNOT CHOOSE...ALIGNMENT!" |
| Witch12-23-06, 02:24 PM | I'd go with Neutral. |
| Radijs12-23-06, 04:32 PM | Chaotic neutral. The character seems to be inclined to follow several laws but appearantly has no qualms breaking these laws when it suits him. He will consort with evil men, commit himself to thievery, torture and murder to achieve his goals. Those goals seem to be good but I'd say the character is on a slippery slope. How long will the means become to severe for the ends? And will the character be able to recognize these things? |
