| sashobee_tanakason05-19-06, 11:11 AM | I have been out of the loop for years. I am just getting ready to jump back into D&D and want to come up with a new PC. I was told there is an alternate way to come up with the stats for a new PC. The person said it was somewhere in the DM Guide but couldn't remember where. He said it didn't use the 4d6 to generate the stats. Can someone help me out here? I cant afford a DMG. Can Someone please explain how to come up with PC stats using this other method? Thanks |

However since I can't find it in the SRD I'm unsure if it is legal to post it on these boards; though in general it allows you a set of points to purchase rolls between 8 and 18 with higher attributes costing more points. If you do use point buy the DM has to inform you of the points available, so get with your DM and ask for clarification at the same time get him to show you his book (which IS fair use) und read that section if needed. |

So I guess he will have to tell me how many points I will have to start with. I think the old method of 4D6 plus modifyers would be quicker and easier but one of the players mentioned that this DM used an alternate method orriginally. Guess the DM will just have to dig it up for me if thats the method he wants. Thanks again. |
