| Siridar06-16-07, 02:34 PM | Ok I started gaming with a new guy and his freinds 3 weeks ago along with a group of us who have been gaming for over a year now. When the characters where first made we were given a 35 point buy system np. So I ask what everyone is playing and alignments so far if possible so I could get a gist of what was needed. Turns out everyone that I'm allowed to know is playing something crazy powerful at first level. 2 Dragonkin Warmage/Sorcerer, 1 Dragonkin Barbarian. 1 Catfolk, Monk and later find out a Doppleganger Rogue. Ok I'm told everyone is playing a good alignment or close to it. So I make a 1/2 celestial elf Cleric thats CG. We were told we could do a +1 level adjustment with np. So I was using 3rd ed rules. Turns out it was 3.5 so to keep my adjustment down no extra skill points feats or HD np. Ok so we start playing and find out group is totally evil 2 dragonkin have mutilated and murdered a group of halflings and fed them to the survivor after breaking his arms and legs. Granted my PC is not there for this. The Barbarian turns out to be CN and kills or does whatever he wants in the name of taking over his tribe. So it has been 3 gaming sessions for my group with the new guys and We've still not been officially grouped the Doppleganger Rogue has stolen from My group of NPC clerics and fled into a town. The monk is nowhere to be found that player has pretty much quit and while we are only gaming 1 time a week the old group is gaming like every other day and some have had to make new characters due to deaths. So We go this week and The rogue steals from my group and the NPC's I'm with cuz we are heading to the capital to warn of impending doom. The rogue takes off right before we figure it out and attempt to follow him though none us have tracking I use my flight to hover and see if I can see anything beating his Hide check I still see nothing as he runs off. So we take off to warn the town and we get there and thats when we switch groups granted my turn was 15 min I timed it. OK so they start going and after like 30 min I'm bored and go read comics and stuff and fall asleep I wake up at the sound of its your turn and an hour has gone by. So I get my turn and during it. I get to a tavern and notice some strange things going on and attempt to find out whats going on by listening around and I roll it a 25 to hear and I told I can't hear what I'm after but I hear just junk. So I'm like ok. I use gather information and roleplay asking about company to talk with or the fine food the tavern is serving to some of the patrons and get a 19 on my roll and still nothing. So then I get bread and leave turns out the rogue has attempted to poison me and which in turns I accidently poison some children by feeding them the bread I was given by the tavern. The rogue changes shape and starts a mob after me as I rush the dying child to the temple for help. He dies in the temple and mob attempts to murder me but I manage to make a diplomacy check to calm them to have guards take me to jail. So thats the end of my turn We go back to the other group and I stay awake for this entire thing and after an hour of them gaming I'm like its time for me to go. So far there is no reason for me to as a character to even be with this group and as a player I find it not worth my time for I don't play evil characters and I find a group who can't even work together worth playing with. Now am I being overly critical or am I justified |
| vineyard06-16-07, 02:48 PM | JUSTIFIED. Its obviously way way way to much stuff going on at the same time. And waiting an hour+ to get to your next turn...WTF? I would be furious by that point. The whole bloody thing just seems to convoluted and stupid to be honest. |
| Ayra06-16-07, 03:03 PM | Why did they lie to you about their alignments? I can understand if someone has something nice planned with the DM.. but this just messes up the whole party. Next to you barely getting any play time and the other characters basically being out for PKing and griefing, I'd leave the group. You're in a clear disadvantage if you only get a little playtime and they get to play a lot. This is clearly not something you can talk to the DM and other players about if it's really as bad as you say. It seems as everyone knows perfectly well what they are doing it. They are just not doing it as a team.. |
| Siridar06-16-07, 03:16 PM | well supposedly they were playing good up till the point they started robbing and killing popele that lasted i think for what the DM said like 15 min |
| PwnageLlama06-16-07, 04:04 PM | My eyes started to bleed while reading that. You are not overreacting. Bad DM! |
| Count Arioch the 28th06-16-07, 04:19 PM | Dude, they6're specifically trying to screw you over. I'd take it personally, and not hang out with that bunch of people ever again. |
| Ayra06-16-07, 07:03 PM | well supposedly they were playing good up till the point they started robbing and killing popele that lasted i think for what the DM said like 15 min In my book, if you suffer from such a serious alignment switch on the very first session, you've never really intended to play that alignment anyway. It's safe to say that they lied about their intentions and alignment. |
| Radiant11706-16-07, 10:40 PM | Find another group. The players are there for the pwnage and the DM has all the intelligence of a doorknob (and not a particularly bright doorknob). This is a party-based game, so regardless of your alignment, a player character is, by definition, a character who genuinely believes that being a productive member of a co-operative party is best for him. Any character who does not hold this belief is an NPC. |
| Kouk06-16-07, 11:51 PM | Uh, do you really need us to tell you what to do? That was a fun story though, I liked the part where the Rogue poisoned your food out of the blue and you then gave it to orphans (who were probably begging because the DM knew the food was poisoned) just in time for the Rogue (who you had never even met except for seeing him run off with your loot several times) frames you for murdering the kids while you try to save them, while the DM sends cops after you immediately (for street rats? really?) and you end up surrendering yourself to the authorities. That's like Good Character Candid Camera. Everyone in that group is evil and conspiring against specifically you (probably you falling asleep annoyed them so they took it out on you in-game). |
| godbeepit06-17-07, 12:13 AM | Hahahah very nice! Nah, you're totally justified especially if you don't want to play evil characters. Though, to vineyard I've had to wait longer. :P You definitely found the leftovers of my dysfunctional party. I'm sorry you had to deal with that.:D |
| Siridar06-17-07, 01:23 AM | Well the only reason I made it three game sessions was because The story line that was started with my character was looking interesting in the little time I got to play it and Like I said it was only 3 sessions and 3 characters had been replaced so I was like ok maybe now something good will come of it |
| lucifer77706-17-07, 10:34 AM | Dude, Justified. There was so much PC screwing over PC action and DM railroading there that it makes me sick. It sounds like a bad MSN Chat Freeform game gone wrong or something. You:" I take the sick children to the temple for he--- *get's interupted* Guy playing Rogue: LOLZ I START A RIOT TO MESS UP THE TEMPLE TRIP AND THEN EYE LASERS EVERYONE AND THEN I LOL AT MYSELF THEN BUY SOME HOOKERS AND GO HOME LOLOLOLOLZ Your DM: LOLZ THAT SOUNDS AWESOME MR. ROGUE YOU DO SO, MR. CELESTIAL YOUR PLAN FAILZ DUE TO ROGUE'S EYELASER MOB ATTACK LOLOLOLOLZ I honestly would have asked them something along the lines of "Just how much school did you accomplish in life?" or something even more anger-induced and then promptly left. You're getting screwed man, time to jump ship. Sheesh..... Those people should have been convicted of Wreckless Endangerment for even SUGGESTING you play D&D with them. |
| Siridar06-17-07, 05:29 PM | you know thats alot of what it sounded like minus the laserbeams I mean I was running with the kid and was omg I use my heal skill to perform the hiemlich to get the bread and poison outta his stomach that ended with the rogue screaming out i was violating said boy. |
| lucifer77706-17-07, 05:40 PM | you know thats alot of what it sounded like minus the laserbeams Oh, the eye laserbeams will come... Just you wait and see. |
| Zaver06-17-07, 06:33 PM | This thread destroys my faith in humans. And I was involved in that non-evil rape thread on the mature boards. You shouldn't leave the group, you should tie time to chairs and DM them through a proper game untill they starve to death or figure out how to play. Constantly say "OMGWTFBBQ learn 2 play nub!" It's the only way. |
| Siridar06-28-07, 08:34 AM | well went this week to hang out and DM was cool to my character and I suffered nothing bad and actually did well on my own with some npc's shared time was better but all in all I talked to my freind i hang with the most told him i'm gonna not game but I'm still gonna hang out I like the guys they are fun just not as the characters they are playing he understood and his character is the only one that would even possibly be able to fake working with mine seeing how he's not evil. One guy is on his 5th character now got tried and executed for murder. So next week gonna tell the DM he I like you and hanging with you but this campaign is not for me. Specially after one player said my character is gonna so sacrifice yours to the dark gods and the DM said I'm gonna have to find something in this game just for your character to do. I mean I really enjoy the character I'm playing but not at the expense of getting PK'd in first meeting |
| Throg06-28-07, 10:26 AM | Seriously?..... Just curious, are you playing at a Gaming store where any kid can come in, or at someone's house? I'm guessing store at this point.. anyways... I'm all for a 'loose' game by a DM, but really... Everyone should decide on a base alignment (LG, NG, CG, LE, NE, CE, staying away from the middle neutrals so there isn't a G vs E in the party.. at least to start with) and try to stay within one step of the base.. So everyone would be at least a little compatable and won't always result in constant player fighting. It's ment to be a co-op game, weither your heros or ruthless villians, there needs to be some sort of glue to hold a party togeather.. and it usually starts with the views held by everyone. |
| Siridar06-28-07, 10:34 AM | well like I posted first time to have been mostly good then just went to CE,NE,E,N,N, and CG and one or two alignments I don't know oh and a psionists adds more fun. but no I'm at a persons house |

| Eater_Of_Souls06-28-07, 02:42 PM | What kind of a game are you playing ? |
| Siridar06-29-07, 08:23 AM | Its D&D homebrew campaign not sure on the story line yet not really been given one. So far my character has had to stop the desecration of two holy temples and has had his city destroyed and we fled to capital to warn them. Everyone else is scattered all over the place |
| Forfeit06-29-07, 09:34 AM | Looks like you´re either playing with retarded kids or your DM is a complete idiot. I think both. |
| Stormbrand06-29-07, 11:03 AM | well went this week to hang out and DM was cool to my character and I suffered nothing bad and actually did well on my own with some npc's shared time was better but all in all I talked to my freind i hang with the most told him i'm gonna not game but I'm still gonna hang out I like the guys they are fun just not as the characters they are playing he understood and his character is the only one that would even possibly be able to fake working with mine seeing how he's not evil.
