An Ironic Twist. [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-05-06, 05:47 PM I never expected a girl to singup for the this adventure I'm about to play with my friends, I was shocked to find as well we both made very simaler characters. Seperated only by gender and alingment. We're both orcs of grummish, war-preists with strength/war as our domains.

The differance is she's lawful evil, I'm chaotic evil.

Now, is it possible for lawful/chaotic evil to get along? Considering we're both doing the will of Grummish I would suppose it'd be easy in theory, but in practice, she's going to probably want to do elaborate crap like raise suspicioun amongst our enemy's hordes so they squabble amongst eachother and delight in the forthcoming of fascism for national security and the dominance of Grummish church.

Where as I.. just get great pleasure out of the pain and suffering of others. Things are most comfertable when they're in shambles, people running around looting and pillaging, other, weaker individuals scared to leave thier homes..

In a way we both could be a partof Grummish'es evil plot. Using my chaotic evil as a means of putting the world in an anarcho state, and through the chaos and destruction, people are going to look to someone, anyone, as a savior. That's where lawful evil comes in. But this would only make sense if we were working as seperate teams of chaotic and lawful evil furthering the goals of evil. Together I can't understand how a chaotic/lawful evil person could do much of anything as a team.

Look at it this way. You could be Chaotic Good (Luke) and your father could be Lawful Evil (Vader). You might argue, tussle, and even try to kill each other, but the love is still there. It is possible for characters of opposing alignments to work together.

12-05-06, 06:15 PM Or think about it like this. In a goodish campaign, you might have one N person, and one LG, and another CN and then a LN. they all are of different alignments, but they still can work together. It wouldn't be hard for seperate evil alignments of the same cause to work together.

12-05-06, 06:16 PM Her raising of suspicion will probably require some cleverly applied force, aka you. See if you two can work up a way in that you are simultaineously working the will of Grummish in your prefered methods.

Also, don't you have to be within one step away from your deity's alignment if you're a cleric?

12-05-06, 07:57 PM I dont see a problem else than the only way to dected that you two have only one minor aliment differnce. So unless your in a extremly lawful or extremly chatioc city you dont have anything to worry about. Your far more likely to run into a town of really good people, that has paladins. Also else than the way your charaters act or they use the detechtion spell. You cant just walk up and say Hi im lawfull.

12-05-06, 08:11 PM Unless the DM house-ruled cleric alignments, or changed Grummsh's alignment to neutral evil, you cannot be a lawful evil cleric of Grummsh. So is there a house rule or something in the works? If not, problem (somewhat) solved.

A lawful evil fellow would feel like lording over the enemy populace, while a chaotic evil fellow would more likely want to kill everything, given the descriptions of both alignments in the PHB.
This is most likely going to mean that the LE cleric will attempt to exert a measure of authority over the CE cleric, to use him as her pawn in gaining power. The CE cleric would either allow this to happen without care (at least you still get to kill things), or will not like being held on a leash so much, either throwing the LE cleric off (distraction and such) in order to do what he wants, intimidating her, or simply being a whiny brat. "Wah! When do we get kill something? I want to kill something now!"

If the former happens, then a positive relationship might develop, but it would be more akin to that between person and his pet than that between pair of lovers. I would imagine it would be very rare for evil clerics of orc heritage (you are both orcs, right?) to get into a true relationship of equallity, though. If the latter happens, well, there will be conflict.

In the end, it's most likely dependent on the stats of both clerics (it's easier for a high-charisma cleric to intimidate others) as well as how both of you decide to roleplay this situation.
