I have a problem

I have a campaign going on right now in a not so large on D&D town, not many people have heard about it.

The thing is it's hard to get into campaigns, I make do, But it's hard

So why am I complaining? See, The campaign I'm in, and dare not drop from as it's DM is the owner of the only good hobby hang-out in town and I'd never hear the end of it, well, the dm is being a dick, He's promised that the theme of this campaign is going to be "Oh my god! they killed Nick" Me. And he does, making sure each time to resurect me so I can live through the torment of dieing again each night.

See the major thing is, I'm the barbarian in the group, and we have no really high hit-point charactors, sure we have the fighter, but his con isn' NEAR as good as mine...So I'm in danger alot, I got killed in the first turn last game because an orge squished me, You know what it's like for the DM to give you a gory desciption of how you died each week?

I need help, ether with the DM or with how to keep my charactor alive for a week if only to laugh at my DM.

Wow. That's the most incredibly stupid thing I've ever heard. Answer me this, before I give suggestions. Are you serious?

LOL! Sounds like it could be fun to me, if you don't take it too seriously. (Obviously he isn't.) Is he making you lose a level every time, or is he rezzing you "for free"? If he's making you lose a level, then it's not really fair. But if he's giving you "True Rezzes", then I'd say just go with it.

Figure out some way to roleplay it with your character. Have him develop phobias, or not believe that he was actually killed. "Nah, I was just knocked out for a few seconds. It takes more than a stupid ogre club to the face to stop me!"

That's funny, I used to know someone named Nick who died a lot too, though all of the deaths were mostly his own fault. He died so much we started to use the term 'nicked' as a way of describing a character that died due to stupidity.

"No, Nick, trying to backstab the NPC paladin and betray the party when you were in the paladin's temple, he was awake and at full hp, and the party was in the next room was NOT a good idea."

(Neither was trying to jump a motorcycle over a line of schoolkids when you have a ride skill of ONE, but that was in Shadowrun, not D&D, and he didn't so much die as get his totem VERY mad at him. Poor kids.)

An Amulet of Natural Armor +1 only costs 1000 gp and it stacks with normal armor. If you're fighting Ogres, you can afford more than that.

I suggest going for Frenzied Berserker. After hitting fourth level in that, he won't be able to kill you anymore, as long as there's a cleric on hand to give you a hand.

I blame you for playing a barbarian named "Nick." :D

Play a commoner named Olaf.

I agree with DM Denubis. If the DM is being retarded, you might as well share the "love" and go for FB.

Definately Frenzied Berzerker. Maybe with a level or two of Warlock tossed in? Rage + Greataxe + Str boosting items + Hideous Blow = Crying DM.

Not cool, I am sure that this guy is doing it out of fun. But as a DM your job is to create a fun and enjoyable gaming experience for you and your players. What you need to do is just talk to him. Just approach him and tell him how you feel.

Lol, okay, I have to admit, your plight made me laugh a bit. I had the tank in our first ever DnD game with my friends, and he developed a phobia for openning doors and walking down halls -very- quickly (this is what we got for having no rogue). Soon he wouldn't touch anything without sending someone else in first. Fun that way.

Honestly, I'd either quit or make it fun. FB could be good, but then you're screwing with the rest of the party just as much as you're screwing with the DM. Now, trying to get an item that lets you cast a Fireball as a free action when you drop (targetted on your body) would make things fun. -Really- fun.

All your characters should be named Kenny (or, if you like innappropriate fanatsy spelling K'Ni). Thereafter:

Cleric: Oh, my God, they killed K'Ni
Fighter:You :censored: s

:heehee  :w00t: :cheer:

First off, a character that HAS to do something when the DM says (in this case, die every time you play) is an NPC, not a PC.

Obviously, you're not enjoying it. I might tell you to lighten up, but I don't know enough of the specifics of the situation. Sounds funny to me, even the gory descriptions. However, if it's interfering enough with your play, so you never get to do anything fun without being immediately killed, then that is something you need to take up with him. Obviously, he's twisting the rules so that you die every time... he is twisting them, isn't he? I hope so... dying EVERY time? Okay.

Solution - tell him (the DM) That if he wants a character to kill every night for comic relief, that character needs to be an NPC! Either hand over control of your barbarian to the DM and tell him you're going to play something else, or just tell him that the constant death, while it may be entertaining, is interfering with your enjoyment of the game. Tell him you found it cool, but it's getting old, you don't have to be harsh with him. Then, tell him you don't mind it happening, but you'd rather see it, than BE it.
