| StinkySquirrel01-20-05, 06:31 PM | Hi! I just want to first say hello to everyone on this forum This is my first post and i hope we all we get along well Now i have a small question When druid takes animal companion(for example wolf) on druids level 4 wolf gets 2 extra hit dice and it would have enough hit dice to become large animal but d he gorw to large size or not? I think i saw someones post that said that it does not grow but I am not 100% sure Thanks Sorry for bad english |
| CPAtheFat01-20-05, 06:57 PM | Thought I smelled something new when I logged on. :yuck: :D The animal companion does NOT grow in size. Gets all benefits of more HD but doesn't get any bigger. |
| Thorak01-20-05, 09:43 PM | What CPAtheFat said. Animal companions are not Advancing. They are gaining bonus HD from being an animal companion. They don't gain the Advancement benefits for the exact same reason a character gaining class levels doesn't; the extra HD only count for Advancement if the creature is being Advanced. Which, according to the MM, isn't something a creature can do. It's something a creature is. Advanced creatures are exceptional members of their species, they don't "level up" and increase in size. |
