Animal companion bonus HD [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-10-06, 02:42 PM I am making an 8th lvl Gastalt, and this is my first time with an animal companion. its a dire wolf and the Hit Dice is 6d8 + 18, for the bonus Hd do i roll 6d8+18 or do I just add one more d8? I know its a noob question, but I am a noob.

03-11-06, 02:13 PM that "+18" is its total CON bonus to HP from all its previous HD. This means it has a CON mod of +3, so whenever you give it one more HD, you add 1D8+3 HP unless his CON goes up...
