| AdoGD11-19-05, 06:27 PM | I'm currently creating a spellcaster type character. He is Wizard 5, Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil 5 His Abilities are: Str 14 Dex 18 Con 12 Int 18 Wis 12 Cha 14 - Pretty good scores I must say The problem I'm having is choosing the equipment... the DM has given us 80,000GP ( we can only spend 60,000 though), and no more then 20,000GP can be used on a single item. Any suggestions on which items/equipment i should buy thanks... |

What to do is write down a list of areas you need to cover and think what item can help you. For instance, such areas would include: -Offense: Generally, it's important to have three weapons: A good melee, a good ranged, and a back-up weapon. Being a wizard; I would not worry about having a serious melee weapon: but don't neglect a decent light crossbow (or shortbow if your an elf), and a dagger or two. A good offensive can also include a wand charged with a reliable spell [magic missle, acid arrow, or fireball to name a few]. Maybe a 10,000 gold invest in wands/weapons. -Defensive: Wizards have low hit points, and no armor. Unless you have the right spells to cover this, a bracers of armor (+AC), gloves of Dex, and a amulet of health (+Con) can get a lot of milage. It won't hurt to boast your Saves too. Half you're starting gold should go here. -Utility: This one is hard. It's the little things that can go a long way: light, food, rope, mirrors, potions, etc. For storage, I recommend a Heward's Handy Haversack [less hassle than a bag of holdings]. The remainer of you're gold can go here, but make sure you get Wizard's insurance first. -Wizard Specific: Think about the big spells that need expensive components and stock up. Have a few scrolls pre-made for the spells you need once in awhile. Definately invest in spellbook insurance (Com. Arcane has some ideas). |
