I am thinking about creating a Satyr character (monster manual I). The race looks really cool (so does the picture hehe), it's got great ability bonuses and only a level adjustment of 1 (if memory serves), and minor penalties (especially for the "pack leader" or whatever it's called. he gets pan pipes! how cool is that!)

has anyone thought of doing this as well? can i get some suggestions for builds? use any books you want, but let's just keep the setting in Fearun (though d20 modern would be interesting.... no Faerun is fine).

Thanks for the help. I'm loking forward to your suggestions.

I really hope some of you think about this. Looking at the ability bonuses again in the SRG, he may get a level adjustment of 2, any more than that wouldn't be worth it.

I wouldn't do this for ability bonuses, those are compensated for. from a roleplaying standpoint, i think that this char has very unique traits.

any builds that you all think of are greatly appreciated. i know it's a lot of work for something you aren't familiar with, but spend a couple of minutes on it and i think you will be happy with the results.

thanks again

I would probably think about a bard/ranger(archer variant). A barbarian would also be fun, the no STR bonus is about the only downside. Having natural armor and DR would really help a lightly armored character.

Well, this may seem a bit, or even completely irrelevant, but i'm creating like, the gnome or halfling version of a satyr(y'know, think like, hercules, or narnia). The name is being debated, but it's gonna have similar racial traits to gnomes. I Could send it to you when it's finished, if you want.

I once played a Satyr back in 2nd Ed. I played him with the personality and manners of a greasy car salesman..........it was great fun. I would say that you could be satisfied with rogue satyr character, but thats just me.

All these seem doable...i think i am leaning toward a rogue/bard.......but thats just me.
Let me know what you come up with, Zareneth

Friend of mine had a Satyr Drunken Master in his game. Freakin Sweet.

Satyrs get screwed, all those fae levels and a +2 LA? they are far worse off than a equal leveled ANY class. 5d6 hp, lowest BAB, crappy saves. so they get a DR5 and some stat bonuses, they still are weak. sad too, because I would love to play one if they weren't gimped.
