I am making a chain fighter who later on will become a master of chains. Im looking for a good race to be, right now im thinking about an aquatic orc because they get +4 to str and con. I even took two flaws so im 3 feats away from starting the master of chains class. I was just wondering what a good race to be, or what advice or improvements could be given.

Best if you look for advice on the character optimization forums.

Aquatic orc is pretty effin' optimized.

The only real viable alternatives would be large race or a human.

The large race has the significant advantages of improved reach and strenght and trippin' power. The trade-off is a level adjustment. Personaly I think that's a deal breaker.

Human gets a feat. The trade-off is strength. The long-term benefit of the feat will not be quite worth the reduced strenght unless you want to use a class other than fighter to get where you are going.

You could go for a *whatdoyoucall'm* giantesk race from races of stone. A goliath. It has a few advantages:

+4 Str & +2 Con
Powerful build (= whenever a goliath is subject to a size modifier or special size modifier for an opposed check the goliath is treated as one size larger if doing so is advantageous to him.)

Disadvantages are a +1 Level Adjustment and a -2 Dex.

Have fun,
