| Levism8401-21-04, 10:44 PM | Ok, up until now I have been happily playing a morbid Lv 9 Arcane Engineer who is content to improve upon himself in order to become a perfect fushion of magic and mechanics. (For those who dont know what an Arcane Engineer is, it is basically a wizard with the ability to fuse wonderous items into his/her body and make them a permanent part of their anatomy.) My teleportation spell has really helped the party out as they are trying to build a new town (actually just salvage it from the ruin it was) and their main source of assistance is one of the local temples. My character has also grown fond of the local temple and seeks a more spiritual perfection. (He has even going as far as to buy all their cure potions and distribute them for free amongst the village people.) Unfortunately, I am tired of being the party's taxi and wish for my character to study at the temple (and when I can take a new level, begin the progression of cleric). I was going to phase out my current character to NPC status and begin play with a new one, but I figured I might as well see it through. (After all, I owe it to my character!) However, my DM says that I cannot progress in any other level besides Arcane Engineer because it was one of the conditions that he layed out when I took the class. (I was originally a Fighter/Bard who was viciously destroyed by an Orc, and the DM felt bad so he let me look at one of his new books for character ideas. One the the core classes was Arcane Engineer and he let me go with it so long as it was the only class I took. Since than I have aquired 9 books which have given me lots of new options and ideas. Yes I am aware that the DM was nice enough to let me pick a unique character class, but at the same time I dont want to stunt my character's growth.) I want to know if I should find some way (as an Arcane Engineer) to deliver myself from my taxi roll without joining the temple and making enemies with the rest of the players, or if I should try and convince my DM that I need to be true to my character. (My character is Neutral and is being paid for his services, but has grown irritated at the parties constant demands. Also, his current change of heart and free distribution of healing potions might cause him to have an alignment change to nuetral good.) HEEEELLLP! Any thoughts? |
