| technodemon09-24-04, 05:11 PM | What are the different type of magic users that can be done by using eitehr a wizard or a sorcerer? |
| SmiloDan09-24-04, 05:46 PM | I don't really play arcane casters, but I DM a lot. I DM for a half orc wizard 5/barbarian 1/elemental savant 4 summoner. I guess there are 9 basic types of wizards: the mage and the 8 specialists. And I'm sure there are sub-types of those, like the utility mage, the blaster mage, the transport mage, the crafter mage, the research mage (Loremaster), the sage, the scholar, the police mage, farm mage, buildermage (dwarf), tinkermage (gnome), forestmage (elf), ocean going mage, etc. etc. What do you mean, exactly? |
| technodemon09-24-04, 06:07 PM | you were on the right track of your exmaples. I like too see other types that are not so common from what you listed. Any odd or unique ones that been done. Here is the list I was talking about: list (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=268162&highlight=magic+user+types) |
| SmiloDan09-24-04, 06:19 PM | Wannabe gunslinger spellslinger. Selfbuffer melee specialist (kind of suicidal) Mage-archer (best if elven...dip into Arcane Archer) |
| technodemon09-25-04, 05:11 PM | Does anyone have any ideas for non-typical casters (wizards) concepts? Different, unique, strange or out of this world types? I just do not want to do standard run of the mill blaster, loremaster or buffer type wizards or acrance caster. |
| Telperion09-26-04, 01:47 AM | Fighter / 4, Wizard 4 / Warrior of White Fire 4. This characters is a front-line tank with lots of touch-based spells to dish out trough his staff. Buffs for himself and his friends. Curses and energy attacks for the enemies. I also love to use the various Wall-spells to disrupt the battlefield and to create tactical advantages for the party. |
| Araciel09-26-04, 01:54 AM | my favourite idea is to make a wiz/rog or wiz/monk... they can use their spells to great effect improving on skill checks and stealth, combat and anything really...think of a specialized illusionist or transmuter paired with these classes... also there's the rage mage, but i never liked that idea....whats with the prestige classed?? i never liked em...i like multiclassing, you can do all sorts of cool stuff without PRCs....ugh i could write an essay on why i hate PrCs but this is not the place...heh |
| Shadowmagyk09-27-04, 01:41 AM | Right now, I am playing in a campaign as a WIZ/CLR/Mystic Theurge whith only Item Creation feats. I have the Profession:Merchant, Craft:Alchemy, Weaponsmithing, Armorsmithing skills, and I use a Kusari-Gama (DMG v3.5, page 145). (Metal domain gives me a free EWP). I only get into melee when the party is REALLY hurting, and they must yell "Medic" before I will heal them. Otherwise, I stand off in a corner and cast a few spells. I use mostly summoning spells, and use Mage Armor and Shield to wade into melee. I bless the party, and cast Shield of Faith on them using the scrolls that I scribe. I am a True Universal Mage. my favourite idea is to make a wiz/rog or wiz/monk... Wiz/ROG is good, but I think that a SOR/MNK would make a better combo. It gives the feel of a Dragonball Z type of character, and it will make a great Dragon Disciple. |
