| Endarrion04-24-07, 08:55 PM | I am an awakened cat named Copy. I am smarter than you and will answer any questions related to the copying of any and all D-and-or-D related material. Including but not limited to: movie characters as PCs (or NPCs or legal guardians, etc), book characters as PCs (or NPCs or... you get it), threads (including this one), and so on and so forth. Meow. None of the advice in this thread is to be taken litterally if such advice would cause someone to commit an illegal act. Copy the Cat is a registered trademark of Endarrion. Any and all advice is to be taken at face, meow, value. |
| Prator_the_Legendary04-24-07, 09:05 PM | There have been many "Complete" books released in the past couple years; Complete Adventurer, Complete Divine, Complete Arcane, Complete Scoundrel, and so forth. My question is, how many of these are really worth buying? My thought is that I really don't need a list of another 20 prestige classes, and more feats, spells, and magic items will only take you so far. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on extra player options that I'll probably not use much. What really interests me is new base classes and new SYSTEMS of magic or character types that don't really look like simple variations on existing character types... |
| Endarrion04-24-07, 09:10 PM | The first question is posed! Annnnnd.... its really only vaguely related to copying, but it shall be answered forthwith. I suggest that you find everything about the books that you like and, WITHOUT copyright infringement (for your benefit and mine, meow) copy everything with slightly different names and ability descriptions, etc. and then come here on the boards and post your "original" creations and take credit for them. Next, meow? |
| darkneolink04-24-07, 09:13 PM | 2 question one related to your name and one related to your last name Why do everytime somebody says "Hey I'm planning to use/using a ranger with 2 weapon fighting instead of archery" he is immediatly called as a Drizzt clone and why does house cats hate 1st lvl commoners so much? that they appear to kill them on a daily basis |
| Prator_the_Legendary04-24-07, 09:16 PM | Me again. I've got a few questions related to character suckiness; 1. I know, fighters are not impressive compared to primary casters. I can live with that, because it means fighters are still superior in AMF. But how well do fighters compare to other combat classes? 2. I'm told that Incarnum classes suck/don't scale well/are useless/can't do anything another class couldn't do better. How much of that is true? 3. If you succeed in a grapple, can to pin in the same round? And once a person is pinned, can you "silence" them in same round they were pinned? Can grapple, pin, and silence in one move? |

They also may or may not have a panther animal companion. To your other question, we cats hate 1st level commoners so much because ... they're 1st level commoners. I don't even think they like themselves. Meow. |
| Prator_the_Legendary04-24-07, 09:20 PM | 4. Did you not see 1-3? |
| Endarrion04-24-07, 09:23 PM | related to the copying of any and all D-and-or-D related material. I am sorry Prator, but your new questions are not related to copying although they are related to D-and-or-D. Close, but no catknip. ((OOC, 1:as well as they're built, 2: I don't have Incarnum, 3: wtf?)) |
| Prator_the_Legendary04-24-07, 09:27 PM | Ah, right. Sorry. I'll go ask Mang the Barbarian about those then. |
| Kouk04-24-07, 09:27 PM | Can I help clarify a bit, Mr. Cat? The cat wants to help people make D&D characters out of famous movie/book/TV/comics characters. If you want to totally mimic Drizzt Do'Urden, he will give you pointers, or something like that. Possibly he will also explain how to make bootleg copies of books, I'm not sure. |

If you want to totally mimic Drizzt Do'Urden, he will give you pointers, or something like that. Possibly he will also explain how to make bootlegs of books, I'm not sure. Sorta. Meow. I'll give pointers if they're asked for and I'll give explanations too (like the first question about Drizzt) as long as it has to do with copying. Also, as to bootlegging books, see my policy statement in the first post. Look hard, it's there. Meow. |
