| _Bolshack_Dragon_02-17-05, 09:32 PM | In the game I am right now a lvl.5 Favored Soul (they are like cousins to the Cleric). Anyway I was sent on an Assassination mission to in order to join this guild. I have to assassinate a priest from another guild. The thing is I have never been on an assassination misson before. But there are a few twists. This town is filled with guilds and there is a PC who is already in a guild, and he was sent on a mission from his guild to blow up a catheedral of the same guild that I am trying to assassinate a priest from. We were thinking of teaming up so we both could do what was needed. What we are gonna do is first blow up the Catheedral, then I go in, find the body of a priest, cut off his head, and bring it back to the guild that I wanna join. The question is, how are we gonna blow up the building? I have thought of a ton of ideas but they all come to a dead end (hehe, get it dead end?) What do you think we should do? |

How do you plan to blow up a cathedral (a rather large building just by the definition of the name) at 5th level? Unless you have access to some rather powerful magic it's gonna be really tough. Does he have to demolish the building or would a fireball in the middle of a congregation of worshippers count as blowing up??? I know that'd be more effective as a message from said guild. Remember the heart and soul of a faith is the worshippers, not the real estate! |
| Vapthorne02-17-05, 09:49 PM | The question for the day is how big is this building and what's it made of. Fire may do the trick, but I'm sure you thought about that. Beside high level magic, your stuck with conventional means and I doubt you'll have any C-4 to "blow up" the building. What you can do is find out what explosive type materials you have access to (Alchemy fire, gunpowder, even 2nd-3rd level fire and sonic based spells). Study the catherdral, and make good knowledge (architecture) rolls or find someone who can. You'll need to know where to place you spell/explosives to do the most structual damage and hopefull cause the building to collaspe. |

Most likely, you dont want anyone besides the person your performing the mission for to know YOU were behind it. What I would do, is enter into an agreement with the demolisher. Supply or help supply him with what he needs to blow up the building. Let no one besides him know you are helping him. Tell him to blow the building up at night. Then, sneak into the cathedral an hour or so before it is to be demolished. SILENTLY kill the cleric, and make your escape. With luck the building will be demolished and the evidence destroyed. If the heat gets too much, you can always drop some tips to the authorities about the identity of the person that blew the building up. If necessary, blame him for the death of the cleric. You get the idea...... |

| psionichamster02-18-05, 08:23 AM | go rent the bourne identity and the italian job in the latter, change the $$$ to a person, and you are set. as far as demolition charges in dnd...they dont happen now, getting some good plans of the cathedral, bringing them to a sage/engineer (probably under false pretenses, unless you have a shady demolitions-engineer type contact) and get them to identify the weak points get a LOT of acid douse those weak points with said acid...perhaps try to come up with some that does less immediate damage and more long-term (the thing about caustic paste is that it just keeps burning and burning) then, get the intel on the target...where does he sleep/eat/pray/use the loo once all these conditions are met, and you have more info than you think you'll ever need, perform the hit. if you did the previous part right, it'll be easier than you can imagine to knife (stangle/poison/inflict/etc...) the poor slob that's when you cast invis, silence, and walk out of there... and then the place goes up in flames (briefly, since the weakened structure won't be capable of standing without the wooden supports -assumption on my pary: it's possible to take this place down, and has basic DnD core building construction) if it's a temple of moradin, forget it...that place aint coming down easily at ALL good luck, namaste, the hamster (ti seems a bit weird to be using that salutation with someone asking for help on an assassination mission, but....) |
