| Paradisio07-23-05, 10:31 PM | I like to balance the team out, gets more done. Anyways here is the current lineup: Warmage Cleric (Although... he doesn't heal unless you pay about 1000 gp x healing level and the party is level 1-3) Aristocrat (I know...) 2 Fighters I was thinking druid, wizard, or perhaps barbarian. Any input? By the way its a generic setting, and it is taking place mostly in a swamp for now. |
| Mysk07-23-05, 10:34 PM | Wizard to cover more utility aspects of magic or rogue, dealing with traps with a reluctant cleric and 2 meat shields might not be too pretty. o.o |
| Paradisio07-23-05, 10:36 PM | Rogues might as well be banned, since the DM refuses to use a mat, I can't sneak attack, and we never go into dungeons, and we encounted a whole 5 traps in the last campaign (over a year.) Sure the skill points are awesome, but it just isn't enough. Not to mention that is what my last character was. Here is my stats: 17 16 15 14 14 13 And I have 3 free stat points. |
| Dragonsblood07-23-05, 11:03 PM | Wait, so your cleric's player plans on charging you 1000gp per heal? You know, nothings forcing your team to take that ass-hat with you. OOC you should just kick the player out. What does an aristacrat do? I don't have the suppliment that it's from. Sounds like a rich bard without the spells, skills, or songs... Out of your choices...I would not go with barbarian because your team has the melee department covered. I like wizards, but you should probably go with druid so that you and your team can actually be healed (meanwhile leaving the "cleric" to die). Bard or ranger might be fun too. |
| Mysk07-23-05, 11:23 PM | hm. well if rogues are banned and the campaign/setting doesn't seem to have much in the line of tactics around it. Play another cleric. Go the divine metamagic route and make the other cleric feel worthless. ^^; I'd suggest a sniper character (ranger). use the fact that the dm doesn't use a battlemap and just start picking off whatever the hell you feel like xD Rangers also can use wands and such. so You can become the party healer as well when needed. Focus on not being seen and because you don't have a battlemap make sure to know what terrain you are in first, then just say you stand behind a tree while shooting around it. etc. Can't really be disputed when you're working with what you get from your dm. ^^ |
| bobothehobo807-23-05, 11:38 PM | Play a Cleric. With your sized party 2 healers would be immensely helpful. Especially if a certain $3)*%&-bag doesn't want to heal. Heal for free, except when a certain "companion" needs it most. |
| Paradisio07-24-05, 12:45 AM | Yea, I think I'm going cleric, just to up him. Either he is totally inept at playing one, or he is just a jerk. He puts greed before his own life, IE he will let the entire party die if they don't pay him (and he will then die as well.) Unfortunately, I can't kick him out, since I don't run the game, and the DM doesn't have enough sesne to. Him and one of the fighters are pretty much greed mongering sociopaths that will more than likely try to kill the party than help them, this isn't unique to this character, but to all characters they run. But the DM doesn't want to solve issues between PCs, so basically only them two have fun, at the expense of everyone else. In the last campaign, they basically derailed the whole campaign, ignored the major plot hooks, and in result, the world was basically destroyed. Edit: Oh, and an aristocrat is an NPC class from the DMG... Probably the worse class in the game other than commoner. |
| bobothehobo807-24-05, 01:00 AM | Talk to the DM in private, see which way he/ wants to go. It seems like he might be "on your side" if they ruined his last game. If he agrees, but won't really "man up," you might want to find another group. It doesn't sound like your having much fun as is. Hopefully though, your group can resolve this and move on to have a killer campaign. I would hope the Aristocrat multiclasses soon. He might just be starting out for the insane starting GP. Maybe he can be the "face" of the party. |
| Paradisio07-24-05, 01:05 AM | Trust me, as soon as I can I will probably join another group, but it is suprisingly hard to find one around here (I already posted in the classifieds section as well.) And you are correct, he will not "man up" to it. This is coming from the same DM whose philosophy is "the DMs responsibility is to kill the players." I will cope as best as I can for now though. And the aristocrat did do it for the money, and he isn't planning on multiclassing. While he is currently the parties face, I believe the party is beginning to resent him on some level. Basically the entire party elected him as their leader, under the idea that he was a super experienced player. But unfortunately he has derailed the campaign by trying to make his own city in a middle of an area where are the cities are being destroyed by outsiders (and so was his last session.) |
| Ze_Mighty_Vegetable07-24-05, 01:11 AM | Go monk. They are the Swiss Knife class. |
