| Tolly724908-21-07, 07:11 AM | "I have a cunning plan!" Anyone who's ever seen Blackadder knows that those words are oft followed by much inconvenience, chaos, and on the part of Baldric, severe pain. And we all know that PC's clever plans usually backfire, too. So, in the vein of potentially awesome plans that fail miserably, I decided to start this thread. Poor PCs, pain in life and humiliation in death... My Group Sucks At d20 Modern: 'Black' Alice Jones is being followed by a Sugar Slave from the 'Blood Sugar' adventure, and spots several bags of flour. She has the Energy Ray psionic power and a twisted idea. She also was under the impression that she needed to blow it sky high lest she be possessed. AGAIN. Alice: (looks at sugar slave) Sugar Slave: (looks at Alice) Sugar... Alice: :tantrum: :shifty: (hands DM a note, DM laughs evilly) Tommy: ...Oh crap. Sugar Slave:  Sugar... (lurches towards Alice, who is sloooooowly backing towards the rest of the party) Sugar... Leah: Hey, give us a clear shot! Tommy: I swear, she's smirking... she's planning something... Sugar Slave: Sugar... Sugar... (lurch) Alice: :smirk: :mage: Die, you useless excuse for a Pokemon! (Energy Ray: Fire on the flour bags) Sugar Slave: Sugar! (dies) Tommy and Leah: OMG! :bounce: :dancin: DM: Well done. You just killed the d20 version of Pikachu with the equivalent of a mental match. Alice: :tie: All in a day's work. DM: Just one little problem. There were hostages, and now half the building is missing. Party: OMG! :censored: :banghead: Tommy: You killed the hostages, you idiot! Leah: :censored: Alice: I had to make sure it wouldn't eat my brain! I Can't Believe I Trust This Guy With My Life: Kingdom Hearts campaigns are CRAZY. We're playing one where our Keybearer has amnesia and really, truly believes that everyone is light and happy and cheerful and really wants to be hid friend. I, on the other hand, am playing a ticked-off Drive Summoner (long story) who used to be in the military and may or may not be part Heartless. They got separated from the rest of the group... Keybearer: Huh, I wonder where they went. Drive: I'll know if you shut up and let me look. Keybearer: Oh, don't worry about that, I'll just ask the Keyblade! Drive: Yeah, good luck with that.... wait, what? Keybearer: (holds up his keyblade and does a cool-cut-scene bit) DM: The Keyblade says... (roll dice) follow the trail of black stuff on the floor! Keybearer: This way! (walks off) Drive: :nonono: (follows reluctantly) DM: Drive, you sense Heartless up ahead. LOTS of Heartless. Drive:  There are Heartless there. Tons of 'em. Keybearer: Oh, not a problem! I'm the Keybearer, we'll be fine! Drive: :nonono: (keeps following, although she makes various references to where she's gonna stick things when they get home) DM: Well done! You just found the keyhole to the heart of the world! You also found a big-ass Heartless that looks like a rabid black lion, as well as lots of little Heartless. They're all looking at you curiously, or at least as curiously as the utter absence of human emotion can look. Drive: :tantrum: Keybearer: Huh... why aren't they attacking us? Oh well, time to get to work. Drive: Eh? What? NO!!! Keybearer: CHARGE!! Drive: :banghead: :censored: :headexplo If we get out of this in one piece, you're losing all plan-making rights. And so is that damn key. |
| Mindolin08-21-07, 01:23 PM | I liked the first one, but I LOVED the second one. Yeah, I've had problems with plans that would be too stupid even for the Blackadder II Baldric, who I believe is the dumbest of them all. One example would be when I was running a solo campaign. The character was playing Raistlin Majere, and so I decided to pretty much run the beginning of his test as said in the Soulforge. The character was higher level than usual, 5th level actually, and was sitting in a crowded tavern when approached by some dark elves (exiled, not drow). Immediatly after realizing that they were the ones who betrayed Raistlin in the book, whereas they would be honest with him this time, Raistlin detonated a fireball. In the middle of the common room, sitting about 3 feet from the blast. Another example was in a Naruto D20 game, where I was the one who had what would seem to be a crazy plan. We were supposed to be rescuing a merchant and his family, and the team somehow decided to split up. My partner and I were on the roof, right above the room the merchant and family were being kept, and I decided to act like a true Naruto ninja. Instead of sneaking in, I dropped a couple of sticks of dynamite. The merchant and his family were safe, but noone else in the room made it out alive. |
