02-02-08, 10:39 AM I was wondering what the weight of one is and what book I could find it in. I was thinking about making a Goliath Crag top archer but have no idea of the str I would need to use it and if I making some sort of collapsing bipod for it would it be easier to use?

02-02-08, 01:10 PM A ballista weighs approx 32 pounds and its combat details can be found in the DMG under 'Urban Adventures - siege engines' or here (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/wilderness.htm#siegeEngines) in the SRD.

02-04-08, 12:23 AM Never heard of it I just was thinking that because the Goliath race is so big and strong that for ranged weapons ballistas like crossbows would be natural.

Not only did it happen, but he crit. The next thing you see is all the characters nearby the victim covered in spaghetti sauce.

Never actually saw the film, but that one scene was told to me.

02-04-08, 11:33 AM A goliath could use a large sized crossbow. And I recall the existance of a great crossbow in a splat book somewhere. Arms and equipment guide most likely.
It had a d12 damage die. A large version would come pretty close to a siege weapon.

02-05-08, 08:49 AM Er, guy, the standard ballista does 3d8 right? Take Exotic Weapon Proficiency: (Great Crossbow) from the same book that Goliaths are in (Races of Stone).

Standard Great Crossbows do 2d8. Goliaths weild one size bigger, therefore 3d8 (same as a ballista) - from the picture, to me it looks shoulder mounted...
