If bards play as an ensemble does that grant them more success and cash? Two players I were all bards for some reason and performed in a group. We were them bonuses to their income.

I think you're missing a few words in there, but I'll venture a guess at what they were and couch my response appropriately...

If two or more bards were to play cooperatively in an effort to earn money, I would handle it this way: Choose the primary bard. All others involved are secondary and I would allow them to use the "aid another" aspect of skill rolls to give the primary bard a +2 bonus on his or her perform roll. For every 5 they beat the "aid another" perform roll, I would give them an additional synergy bonus of +1.

This way, a large group of talented bards would quickly outstrip the performance of any singlular individual and would earn funds commensurate with their performance level. The unfortunate fact still remains that they would have to divide the earnings amongst themselves.
