Hello. I'm a new player to dnd and was hoping I could get some creative help with using bards. I think fascinate could be a really neat skill to have, especially when suggestion is aquired, but how can I use it before getting suggestion? Can I use it on guards so that me and my allies can just stroll past them? What about after we step out of sight, does the guard get upset, or is the experience one that leaves him feeling good (as one presumably would from being fascinated with a preformance)? What other ways have you guys used this skill, sans suggestion?

What are some smart ways you have utilized your knowledge skills (which I've a bunch of)?

What other neat bard tricks have you come up with? I really enjoy sorting through all the rules and making fun characters, but I'm not the most creative person when it comes to coming up with clever stuff on the spot (like while in a game). I have a feeling I'm gonna be a back-up member of the party in battle. I'll inspire courage when neccessary, but otherwise spend my time pecking off weakened enemies with my crossbow, casting spells that aid my allies/ impede enemies, distract spellcasters and otherwise fill in the gaps.
