| -Shade-10-01-05, 05:13 AM | For those not in the know, BASTARD is an anime. Based on a D&D like world, it shows the struggles of a wizard called Dark Schnieder (named after the lead singer of Twisted Sister), a Kingdom called Meta Rekana (Metallica), and it involves a God Ansla Sax (Anthrax), and uses song names for spellcasting (Venom! Thunderstruck! Tesla!). It even had a side character named Bon Jovina (Bon Jovi). On and off, my fellow gamers have used this influence. It's quite amusing. ANyone else try using names and attacks based on music? A few examples from my group -Machi NeHed (Machinehead), a wizard -Eva Ne'Sance (Evanensence), my female cleric -Ninian ch'Nelli (Nine Inch Nails), a rogue -Mari Lynnmasson (Marilyn Manson), an evil cleric -I-Ro Smithe (Aerosmith), a fighter with a maul -Ari Nightwish (nuff said), another wizard Give it a try. Be as liberal in your interpretation as you like. |

| PhaedrusXY10-02-05, 02:36 AM | You could just use the names of the characters in GWAR (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GWAR#Line-up) with no modification at all. ;) Oderus Urungus Flattus Maximus Beefcake the Mighty Jizmak Da Gusha Balsac the Jaws of Death Slymenstra Hymen |
| Bruunwald10-02-05, 03:03 AM | That reminds me of something that always makes me chuckle. In my house, Lodoss War is a big hit. The OVA series has a character in it named Aldonova. Now, for those who don't remember, Aldo Nova was a guitarist/singer/songwriter/producer during the early 80's. He was sort of a musician's musician, playing sometimes on albums with groups like Blue Oyster Cult and guest starring in live situations. His two hits included a song called "Fantasy" and another called "Monkey On Your Back." He was especially big on the East Coast. His album Subject: Aldo Nova went a couple times gold. Everytime they say his name (Aldonova!) I crack up. |
