| Jager Mage07-18-05, 05:02 PM | I'm playing a half-giant fighter/barbarian/champion of gwenharwif/war hulk, and I'm looking for something to yell before charging into battle and to possibly chant while in combat. We do some cavalry charges, and our party leader is a cleric whose combat abilities are focused on cavalry, so I'm tempted to cry "Forth Eorlingas!" The cry doesn't have to be original, but preferably something suitably epic. Also, feel free to tell your favorite battle cry. I'm curious if anyone else has any. |
| DeathMagus07-18-05, 05:24 PM | Christian-esque quotes are very nice and epic, especially from the Catholic faith, which has a long and rich tradition. I'm thinking Hellsing type stuff, especially for clerics or other undead/abomination haters "In the name of [diety], the impure souls of the undead(or other abomination) shall have eternal rest. Amen" Or possibly something as simple as "ashes to ashes" Played correctly, these sorts of things can be very dark and brooding. Try to find a book on the death/burial rituals of different cultures, and work some of their prayers or chantings into your own style. Edit: Since you're playing a barbarian, I'd take a look at ancient Welsh/Celtic stuff. They'll have good quotes, for sure. |
| Raxor07-18-05, 05:42 PM | Are you fighting exclusively undead, or are you looking for a battle cry for everyday encounters? Of course, as far as battle cries go, it's hard to beat "SPOOOOOON!" |
| DeathMagus07-18-05, 05:48 PM | Another point I remembered. Much of battlefield banter is simply exaggeration. What does a Barbarian do? He slices enemies up with powerful swings. So, his cry might be along the lines of "I'll carve you in two!" If he's more graphic, try "Your blood will rain down upon [name of town about 5 miles away]!" A Rogue tends to use more precision, so he might say "I'll bet you didn't know you had a major artery there!" If he's more graphic, how about "I'll dissect you as a butcher does a pig!" If you want something more humerous, try "Nice hamstrings. I'll take them!" It's all about personality, and how a character wishes he fought. |
| SodaGuy07-18-05, 06:25 PM | Or you could go the hilarious route: http://bdmonkeys.net/~chaz/battle.php |
| DragonDeadite07-18-05, 06:29 PM | "You ever seen a jugular squirt 20 feet?" (That coming from a non DnD playing friend!) I have a rogue that just yells "HAVOC!" at the top of his lungs just before a big fight... at least, one that he can't sneak up on the enemy before hand. :D I used to have a really good one for my Sorcerer... and I'll be damned if I can't remember what it was, GAH!! In a game many years ago I DMed for a bunch of my friends and one lady played a 2nd ed priest and her war cry was... get this... "Please don't hurt me!" Followed by Magic Stones over and over again while everyone else did their best to protect her. It was really funny, and it was during one of these encounters that she killed a rather strong monster that was supposed to be a challenge. "By the shadows that bind us all, you will be destroyed" And of course, my sig. :dragon: |
| Bohica07-18-05, 06:34 PM | Freedom! |
| Jager Mage07-18-05, 07:25 PM | "Aye, stay, and you may die. Run, and you'll live, at least for a while. But lying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days, from this day to that, for one chance, JUST ONE CHANCE, to come back here, and tell our enemies, that they may take our lives, but they'll never take OUR FREEDOM!!!!!!" I'm looking for a good all around battle cry, something truly epic sounding, though the being a champion of gwenharwif, the christian suggestions might work too. Anyone else? |
| Bruunwald07-18-05, 07:48 PM | How about, "Crom! I never prayed to you before. I have no tongue for it. No one, not even you, will remember if we were good men or bad. Why we fought. Why we died. No. All that matters is that two stood against many. That's what's important! Valor pleases you, Crom. So grant me one request. Grant me revenge! And if you do not listen... then to hell with you!" Or maybe something simple like, "All glory to (insert god's name here)!" |
| kam_Islash07-18-05, 08:05 PM | "Prepare for a phantasmagoria of elven archery! Your blood will be mine!" |
| kam_Islash07-18-05, 08:06 PM | "Prepare for a phantasmagoria of elven archery! Your blood will be mine!" "I am the merchant of your destruction!" "Feel the wrath of Ehlonna, *****!" |
| Demonfey07-18-05, 08:21 PM | In the equivalent volume of the post: NAC MAC FEEGLE! In honor of Terry Pratchett, namely Wee Free Men |
| MT-296 "Dagger"07-18-05, 09:17 PM | EULALIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. My all time favorite battlecry. A :cookie: to anyone who recognizes it. |
| Jager Mage07-18-05, 09:20 PM | We have a nezumi NPC warrior named martin in the campaign. |
| ^Graff_EpsilonIX07-18-05, 09:26 PM | bad redwall stealing hosers. You can always yell some random word at the top of your lungs... |
| SodaGuy07-18-05, 09:43 PM | Utinni! |
| Kupokpok07-18-05, 10:00 PM | My dad owns a book on Civil War trivia (strange occurances, funny stories, etc), and one entry was about a confederate chaplain (priest) who oversaw a unit of cannon: Lord, bless the soul as I destroy the body. |
| Darthos the Librarian07-18-05, 10:28 PM | My favorite was, "meet you in the middle!" I played a human fighter (2ed, but a Conan clone named Darthos), and my roommate played a dwarven berzerker. It began when we fought some sort of regenerating worm. I carved through one side as he carved through the other till we, well, met in the middle. After that, any time we were carving our way through a mass of orcs, goblins, kobolds, or foodstuffs, we "met in the middle." |
| DeathMagus07-18-05, 10:47 PM | bad redwall stealing hosers. You can always yell some random word at the top of your lungs... Darn...you got the cookie first. |
| 9mm of Mercy07-18-05, 10:58 PM | Leroy Jeeennkins! |
| SodaGuy07-18-05, 11:18 PM | God damn it, Leeroy. |
| HalfMunchkin07-18-05, 11:48 PM | It needs to be said again, "SPOOOOOON!!!" |
| TinManFan07-19-05, 01:58 AM | Well, rolled up a Generic Cleric (Named Clarique) this past weekend as a healer and not much else for a party (Already running a Psy Warrior). Taking her down the VoNV and VoPeace route, so she won't mix it up and make me multitask and such. Well, to flesh her out, made her confrontational. In the fight with undead: "Embrace Pelor's Love, B***H!" Her Searing Light spells she holds her Finger Gun sideways too. Other Goodies: "Oh for the love of F*****G GOD Just die already!" "HE STOLE MY PURSE!" (Male player, Male Char) "What WOuld Raistlin Do?" |
| turalisj07-19-05, 02:04 AM | hmm, a half-giant battle cry... FEED ME!!! *doges projectiles thrown by half-giants* :D |
| Kalanth07-19-05, 02:10 AM | Right now I am playing the apprehensive hero (who is also, somehow, the party leader), and my most common battle cry is something along the lines of, "Damn it! I knew I should not have come on this journey!" Course, this would not work for most everyone, and almost no one out there plays the hero that REALLY does not want to be one, but thats ok, I love him. |
| theif lord07-19-05, 05:09 PM | a good one my old master of chains used was "WIND AND WEAPONS!" i love wirlwind attack |
| DragonDeadite07-19-05, 05:48 PM | Utinni! .............. DANGIT!!! I know this... I can even hear some small thing shouting it out in a really high voice... but I CANNOT REMEMBER THE MOVIE!!! :weep: I wanna say Willow, but I'm just not sure!! |
| Bohica07-19-05, 06:04 PM | Ha-boo-kin! Or something like that... |
| Ilikan Holyaxe07-19-05, 06:05 PM | I like to use random insanity ones, and sometimes my DM awards me a bonus to initiative for the hesitation which would occur afterwards... examples: "This enormous woman will consume us all!" or "come on and fight me, I have the plague." or "the ranger is stuck to the roof again!" |
| OamuTheMonk07-19-05, 08:45 PM | .............. DANGIT!!! I know this... I can even hear some small thing shouting it out in a really high voice... but I CANNOT REMEMBER THE MOVIE!!! :weep: I wanna say Willow, but I'm just not sure!! Why, it's what Jawas yell when they capture a droid! |
| Raxor07-19-05, 09:38 PM | "Not in the face! Not in the face!!!" |
| Solamar07-20-05, 08:28 AM | VAI VICTUS yup its latin it means "suffering to the conquered" I believe. Now can any of you bright people tell me where this comes from? (hint think playstation) I have some :cookie: :cookie: :cookie: for the one who gets it |
| High King Tigernmas07-20-05, 09:21 AM | Battle-cries? I have posted this before... BATTLECRY GENERATOR (http://chaz.bdmonkeys.net/battle.php?usrname=&sex=m) Or I could lend you my barbarians old battle-cry of 'GARGGGGGGHHH I'LL CHOP YOUR F*CKING HEADS OFF YOU F*CKING PONCY B*STARDS' |
| Claggart07-20-05, 09:23 AM | I can't come up with the inital statement/battle cry, but something involving "stones" and "bones". Then during the combat he could just chant, "Stones break bones! Stones break bones!" "I will CRUSH you!" This one is easy. "By Thrimgrim's beard!" or "By the beard of Dvorak!" -- or any other name. BTW, the "Bless the soul as I destroy the body" quote is great. I may borrow that one for my cleric. Claggart |
| High King Tigernmas07-20-05, 09:27 AM | 'Bearded Basalt Balls Of Beatings' 'Oh I'm sorry, we're all out of that-all we've got left is untimely death' |
| Bonzai07-20-05, 10:09 AM | Or how about, "I like squirrels", or "It's ok to play with dolls". Kudos to those that know where that is from... was on the other night. |
| Gurthoron07-20-05, 10:47 AM | A favorite of my VOP/VONV character is "May peace be with you". I don't think that works for a barbarian though. If you have watched Hellsing (anime, not movie) the crazy paladin guy has some really good lines as he enters combat. And of course: In the name of God, impure souls shall be banished into eternal damnation. Amen. |
| Jager Mage07-20-05, 02:07 PM | I scribbled this in speech class today. It's not so much as a battle cry as a chant (with no rhythm) during the fight. Feel free to make suggestions: I am a Warrior of the Light Chosen by the powers of Right Chosen to destroy the evil of the world so that the innocent will not suffer So go back! Go back to the Darkness! Return to the Shadow from whence you came for I am the bearer of the torch of purification The light that exposes the darkness of your sins The forces of righteousness have chosen me to punish you! So face your death! Return to the darkness and suffer not! For your punishment will be swift and deadly. I wrote this in about 2 minutes, and didn't really think it out. So please, make suggestions. I'm going for a chant during battle, something that will make the other players at my table sit up and listen. I tried to have just a very very very miniscule hint of the Gandalf speech when fighting the Balrog, but I don't think it conveyed. Anyway, lemme know what you all think. |
| Lasrifriir07-20-05, 03:19 PM | Here's some from Icewind Dale II: "I come, AND THE HELLS COME WITH ME!" "To the butcher's work then..." "Pray for a quick death, doomed one..." The last two are more low whispers, but every time my fighter screamed out #1 I broke out into a huge evil grin  . |
| DragonDeadite07-20-05, 04:13 PM | Latin... made me remember an old coat of arms I made for class once... Diu Vivam Means "Long Life" or "Longevity of life" something close to that, it's been a REALLY long time since I looked it up. "Live hard, Die fast!" |
| BadCatMan07-21-05, 03:46 AM | There's the classic, "RRAAAGH!" or "Eat this!" My dwarf once said "Never fear! A dwarf is here!" |
| Gedrin07-21-05, 05:00 AM | Lately I've heard from my party. "KILL 'EM ALL!" "Shiving for justice!" "Oh god, not again..." But they're not a particularly grand bunch of wanderers. From Real Life: "For God, Saint Michael, and Saint George!" mid-ages English, possibly fictional "Hooah!" Exclamation, US Armed Forces, many other militaries have very similar cries. "Curahee" Stand Alone, Cherokee (American Indian), adopted by US Army Paratroopers "Tora! Tora! Tora!" Tiger! Tiger! Tiger!, WWII Japanese kamakazes (also signal for the Pearl Harbor attack) "Aharai!" After me!, Israeli Paratroopers, from the tendancy of their officers to lead from the fore "Scilt ende Vrient" Shield and Friend, mid-ages French, derived from a prayer For a villian... "Your all dead, you just don't know it yet." (point of fact, only most of them were dead by the end of it) "Face me now, and all the powers of HELL!" Disney, Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent, one of my favorites. If you're looking for a BBEG, check it out. The above are battle cries. Something shouted durring the first round of combat or durring the surprise round. If you're looking for a pre-combat speech, those are normally tailored to the people being addressed and the situation. We'd need more info. |
| DevilKiller07-21-05, 10:51 AM | Hmm...my drunken monk once shouted, as he charged a dragon in its lair, "All your treasure are belong to us!" He also more famously said "Sacred Dragon Strike!" as he hauled up his robes and urinated on a fire elemental. As for a giant barbarian orator...hmm...take a level of bard so people will get a +1 for your speeches, and then maybe you could try something sort of musical...like say if you were killing zombies (in the voice of an ancient, whiskey soaked Delta Bluesman, of course): Hungry Zombie Blues: Bodies from the graveyard they're startin to rise they're turnin into zombies and they're eatin people's eyes! Ooo! Ooo! Hoo! I got the hungry zombie blues! I saw a hungry zombie and he ate a lady's leg now she is a hobblin like a pirate with no peg oh whoah, hoo! She's got them hungry zombie blues! I saw Asia Argento, and she was very hot I wish that I could do her but I know that I can not Oh no! Hoo! I got them...mmmmhhhhmmmm...sure do got them....uh huh...I got them hungry zombie bluesssss..... or you might fight orcs... Orc Killin Blues: I got them orc killin blues! Everything seems sad to you When you got them orc killin blues! I killed some orcs before breakfast I'll kill many more before noon I've been killing me orcs half the day now and I don't think they can die to soon Oh nooooo! Ohhhhh! I gots them orc killin blues If only you will help me they might be dead by tonight Oh yeah! yeah! I need a little help from you! You gotta help me pretty baby help me end them orc killin blues! You might get low on hit points too (not tough for a bard). Then you could sing The Low Hit Point Blues. |
| XIII07-21-05, 10:59 AM | Mine is from a Miniature line : "By Steel, Fire and Faith! Die Heretic!" |
| High Octane07-21-05, 11:05 AM | YOU'SA GONNA DIE MOTHER ******!!!! Gods have mercy, because I WON'T!! On my command... unleash hell. GIVE ME BACK MY PANTS! (works great to confuse) UNTIL THE END, I FIGHT! and of course..... LEEEERROOOOOOOYYYYYY JEEEEEEENNNNKKKIIIIINNNS!!!!! |
| kam_Islash07-21-05, 11:42 AM | to any high priestess of lolth: "Your glabrezu turned gay when it saw you!" |
| Gurthoron07-21-05, 11:52 AM | "I come, AND THE HELLS COME WITH ME!" That reminds me of what the devil-worshiper freak was saying in the game Max Payne. Lets see if I remember it . . "I have tasted the flesh of fallen angels. I have tasted the Devil's green blood; it runs in my veins. I have seen beyond the world of skin, the architecture of blood and bone marrow. Death is coming! She is coming, and hell follows with her. I am ready to be her son! Her time is now, and all who stand in her way must die! DIE! DIE! (insert insane laughter) You all! Die! Must Die!" Always a great way to freak someone out. Not much of a battle cry I suppose, but amusing none the less. |
| Blue Paladin07-21-05, 12:59 PM | ...cavalry, so I'm tempted to cry "Forth Eorlingas!" The cry doesn't have to be original, but preferably something suitably epic.Just a FYI for the OP, Eorlingas means descendants of Eorl, or Sons of Eorl. If you'll note, I think it was Gamling at Helm's Deep who rallies the people there with "Up Helmingas!" (descendants of Helm). So find a suitably famous ancestor for your own character, add -ingas to it, and there you go. Sidenote: My last character's battle cry went something like "..." and "!!!" (I'll give whole boxes of cookies to anyone who exactly identifies the character I'm quoting there!) But then again, she didn't talk much. |
| DragonDeadite07-21-05, 12:59 PM | Since someone mentioned Icewind Dale, I'll give my favorite line from the first game, something one of the baddies said, a little kid I believe. "I am a soldier by day, a farmer by night. The harvest of souls supplies nutrition for my nations army." I have this on posters in my apartment. :dragon: |
| bjorntfh07-21-05, 02:33 PM | I always liked "pedicabo ego vos et irrumabo!" Suffice to say those who understands Latin (or have read Catullus) will understand it, and everyone else... well google it because it's very much so not safe posting in English. |
| Capt. Pixel07-21-05, 07:10 PM | Are you fighting exclusively undead, or are you looking for a battle cry for everyday encounters? Of course, as far as battle cries go, it's hard to beat "SPOOOOOON!" I had a gnome rogue wielding a masterwork crowbar named 'Teaspoon'. His alter-ego was 'The Gnat' and 'Teaspoon!' was his battle cry. |
| Capt. Pixel07-21-05, 07:15 PM | A fine texan battlecry: "Squirrel Tactics!" |
| CycloneRanger07-21-05, 07:31 PM | I like Leeeeeerooooy Jennnnnnkiiiinnnsss. I also like the old "For Khaz Modan" and classics such as "The light shall never fade!" Originality is good, though. My current character usually begins battle with some sort of insult, "Mortals... Sigh..." or some other kind of resigned-to-ones-fate disparaging remark. Then there's the battle cries that are mostly humorous... "You will all... Damn. Run Awayyyyyyy!" "What the hell is that?" "Did he just... naww...." "Save me a seat at the victory banquet! Wait a minute... Er..." |
| monkeywrench07-21-05, 07:53 PM | Prudentiores Sumus Quam Vos! It's latin for "I'm smarter than you!" Or just yell out this gem, courtesy of the Mountain King Hero There's NOTHIN' more motivatin', than fightin' with a BAAAAAD hangover!! |
| Lycanthromancer07-21-05, 09:07 PM | "Eat steel, ye tree-huggin' hippies!" (Best for fights with rangers, druids, or nature clerics.) "Got a surprise for ya!" "You call THAT a threat! Ha!" "Excuse me a second. That was one heck of a surprise round. I have to change my loincloth now." "May a thousand fire-ants reside in your nether regions!" "I eat crap like you for breakfast!" *Growl menacingly* "Onward, my squirrel minions!" "Go for the eyes, Boo! GO FOR THE EYES! Raaaagh!!!" "Never underestimate the power of the hamster!" "For the henge!" (Druids & rangers only.) (Look at enemy's weapon) "You call that a knife?" (Show your much bigger weapon) "Now THIS is a knife!" "You look like you could use a bit more IRON in your diet! Graaagh!" "I've got a blade with your name on it..." "Die, yeh wanker!" (And my favorite) "Graaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!" |
| turalisj07-21-05, 09:22 PM | "Onward! For Women and Wine!!" - elven swashbuckler, mot of the time more drunk then sober. |
| Berzerker_prime07-21-05, 11:24 PM | Here's a few Tolkienian Elvish phrases to brighten your day... Lacho galad, drego dú! "Flame light, flee night!" Sindarin. Tobannen naneth lín ah in osp orch. "Your mother is covered in the reek of orc." Okay, so more of a taunt, but, still, it has uses. Sindarin, home-brew translation. Auta i lómë! "The night is passing!" Quenya. Aurë entuluva! "Day shall come again!" Quenya. Gerin i dass o osgarel dól lín. "I have the task of amputating your head." Sindarin, home-brew translation. :fight!: Berz. |
| Kellendros07-21-05, 11:43 PM | Solamar: "Vae Victus—suffering to the conquered. Ironic now that I was the one suffering. Not anything as pedestrian as physical pain, rather the cruel jab of impotent anger—the hunger for revenge. I didn't care if I was in Heaven or Hell. All I wanted was to kill my assassins..." Kain is one of the best video game characters ever, if not the best... |
| Xanthia07-22-05, 12:33 AM | How about, "Crom! I never prayed to you before. I have no tongue for it. No one, not even you, will remember if we were good men or bad. Why we fought. Why we died. No. All that matters is that two stood against many. That's what's important! Valor pleases you, Crom. So grant me one request. Grant me revenge! And if you do not listen... then to hell with you!"Conan's the Man! How about something like: "Cowabunga!" |
| Valgaav07-22-05, 02:04 AM | On my command... unleash hell. I've a similar; "At my signal, prepare hell." |
| Puck07-22-05, 03:11 AM | Ohhhh, i love battle crys. I also love things to say right befor fighting the BBEG. -Follow orders as your told, make there yellow blood run cold! -I'll fight untill I die and drop, a force like me is hard to stop!!!! -Raise your flag up to the sky, How many of them can we make DIE! -Block your mind from the stress and pain, fight untill your no longer sain! -Fist & Faith! (my personal battle cry) -The Fire that fules my rage, will burn you to ashes!!! -If i can't shake the heavens, then ILL MOVE HELL!!! (my tatoo) And my favorite thing to say befor a big fight: -"A man who calls the law against his fellow man is ether a fool or a cowerd. A man who hides behind the law is both. For a wounded man should say to his assalent: If i live, i will kill you! If i die, you are forgiven! Such is the rule of honor." Enjoy |
| Cymraegmorgan07-22-05, 03:17 AM | Generic battle cry of the Enemies of Rome: "**** ***, SPuQwoR!" |
| Highbulp Billy07-22-05, 04:28 AM | My favourite menacing pre-attack speech from a BBEG was "My anger burns like a fire within my soul fueling the very fury of my vengeance". To which our reply was something like "We have come to pee on your fire with the weewee of justice" or something equally mature. When it comes to warcries I always go with "AAAAAGH... Oh look, a squirrel". It came out of nowhere in one battle and is now a constant precurser to violent bloodshed. |
| Puck07-22-05, 05:13 AM | LOL "AAAAAGH... Oh look, a squirrel". LOL Ok, this is a lecture on ADD. Now first...KITTY!!!!!! |
| Fazzeren07-22-05, 05:38 AM | My favorite and a classic for any barbarian or other violent fighter type. "Blood and Thunder!.... Death or Glory!" Sets the mood i think |
| Lycanthromancer07-22-05, 10:39 AM | "Carpe Jugulum!" (ie..."Seize the Throat!") |
| Claggart07-22-05, 11:02 AM | >Sidenote: My last character's battle cry went something like "..." and "!!!" >(I'll give whole boxes of cookies to anyone who exactly identifies the >character I'm quoting there!) But then again, she didn't talk much. The character from Master of Monsters II (on Playstation) did that a lot. So does Mario on various games. Claggart |
| Nitneuq Onitnarat07-22-05, 11:23 AM | Shemhamforash! Is what my warlock yells as he fires each eldritch blast. Cookies to anyone who knows where thats from. Oh and "Geeehehehehehe" coming from a feral orc in a gimp mask (and nothing else) was extremly intimidating. |
| Keenath07-22-05, 11:45 AM | Shemhamforash!Um... Isn't that the Kaballistic "true name of God" or something? I've always found that a wordless, feral roar of rage is a more effective battle cry than actual words. In fact, the Confederate army liked that one in the Civil War -- they called it a "Rebel yell". My other favorite is from Starcraft: "You called down thunder -- NOW REAP THE WHIRLWIND!" |
| lancean07-22-05, 01:48 PM | I had a fighter with an extrodinary ability to roll badly. After an episode where I managed to fumble 3 times in ONE round, my fellow players gave me a battle cry... "Let's get ready to stuuuum-ble!" :P |
| Cymraegmorgan07-22-05, 02:12 PM | I've always found that a wordless, feral roar of rage is a more effective battle cry than actual words. In fact, the Confederate army liked that one in the Civil War -- they called it a "Rebel yell". The Rebel Yell was actually a high-pitched girlie scream, but when hundreds and thousands of charging lunatics are screaming like that it gets scary. |
| Lyinginbedmon07-22-05, 02:19 PM | "God has fought many a demon and deity in his lifetime. Such is the lot that he has not to fear but one thing." <pause for drama> "Me" (Worked very well against a horde of Trolls. Needless to say they left a new lake in their wake...) "If I were to tell you that that gargantuan, bipedal, spell resistant, armor-plated killing machine was my sister, would you shut up?" (A cry from the fact that my Wizard is actually an experiment by the same man who turned his own daughter into the Tarrasque) "If you kill him, I'm going to cut off your nuts and shove them in your mouth!" (That's a favourite warning we give to our half-dragon who likes collecting corpses...) |

| Nitneuq Onitnarat07-22-05, 06:55 PM | That's not some reference to those stupid Harry potter books is it? Heh, not quite. It's from the Satanic Bible (next to my keyboard). Shemhamforash is shouted by the preist at the begining and end of each of the 13 stages or a ritual, sometimes acompanied by the beating of a gong. The rest of the group repeats it after him. [/random satanism] |
| High Octane07-22-05, 07:08 PM | Heh, mistaking Harry Potter for Satanism. You arent the first to do that. |
| gerbilattack07-22-05, 11:22 PM | from PRIEST The Lord is my shepard; I shall not want. He maketh me lie down in green patures: he leadeth me beside the clear waters. | Jager Mage07-23-05, 12:11 PM | Heh, not quite. It's from the Satanic Bible (next to my keyboard). Shemhamforash is shouted by the preist at the begining and end of each of the 13 stages or a ritual, sometimes acompanied by the beating of a gong. The rest of the group repeats it after him. [/random satanism] You know, I've read that at least 3 times..you'd think I would remember that, huh? |
| buggritall07-24-05, 07:32 AM | My character's battle cry, which I fully intend to use: *stands with arms outstretched* "Don't hurt me! I'm just a friendly tree!" Or, of course, as a mage lets loose his first Eldritch Blast/Magic Missile: HADOKEN! |
| The Amazing Dancing Bear07-24-05, 10:52 AM | My friend was particularly fond of "Sweet biscuits of Gravytude!" |
| Taim Kelrathos07-24-05, 01:23 PM | My Half-Elf, before sneaking into combat, would hold up his Punching Dagger and whisper to the party members, "Time to harvest some kidneys." before sneaking away with his ungodly high Hide and Move Silent checks. And I have a sharpshooter in the wings who says, "For your father's sake!" Any one who knows where I got that gets :cookie: |
| High King Tigernmas07-24-05, 01:33 PM | 'We are a blaze in the (insert compass direction, preferably Northern) sky' 'In the shadow of the horns!' 'Life has NEW MEANING!' |
| Fort deadly kick07-24-05, 01:46 PM | "H'yar's a bunch of Fieves!" "Bully!" "Colly-flour ear!" Cries of the Iron Ox. (say it phonetically) Here's a buch of fives! |
| Witchblade07-24-05, 02:33 PM | ''For God and country!'' (The standard.) ''Come to papa!'' (For wicked-looking characters.) ''Combat will only result in your demise. Resistance is futile.'' (For calm characters. Walk up to the enemy slowly to increase drama.) |
| Lycanthromancer07-24-05, 04:08 PM | Then there is always the Borg-esque quote: "Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated!" |
| Lyinginbedmon07-24-05, 04:22 PM | Then there is always the Borg-esque quote: "Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated!" Borg-esque? |
| Ulthwe07-24-05, 05:42 PM | why isn't this in? :S CHAAAAAAAAARGE!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| Lycanthromancer07-25-05, 10:34 AM | Shouldn't that be: Da da da DA da DA, CHAAAAARGE! And yes, it's Borg-esque. Do you have a problem with that? :D |
| Highbulp Billy07-25-05, 11:41 AM | Shouldn't that be: Da da da DA da DA, CHAAAAARGE! or Da da da DA da DA... PUPPY POWER! I can't believe I'm posting this  I'm taking 2d6 shame damage right now. |
| Kupokpok07-25-05, 10:21 PM | For someone who's really annoyed or p*ssed off: The yelling will cease and the killing will commence! Kudos to whoever knows where it came from. Hint: Shatner |
| From Beyond07-26-05, 12:39 AM | Cower kur dogs for I am the Sword of the Lord |
| Leibel07-26-05, 12:59 AM | Faugh Abballah(yes I know the spelling is wrong) Irish Brigade battle cry circa the civil war; translation: Clear the way(of shouted in the direction of the enemy) You could make the Revolutionary war British and shout kill with every step; every step is faster than the previous one and kill is said louder; when hundred's of redcoats are doing it it's scary(bet you did'nt learn that in public school) To get a good-evil feel you could do the pulp fiction routine and give the whole righteous man vs wicked man and bring vengance upon thee; only if there's time of course. Keeping in that route the shorter ; let fall upon them fear and terror could work |
| JimmyJustice07-26-05, 01:19 AM | I have always been fond of any Norse/Viking/Berserkr related battle cries. "Victory or Valhala!" was the favored battlecry of the Fighter/Berserker i played, the same one who had this chant i posted in an earlier thread.... http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6292455&postcount=630 |
| Maerdash07-26-05, 01:26 AM | Adapted from one of my favorite movies: Good, bad, I'm the guy with the sword. A fighter who's kings name was Jaxson Steelheart: Heart of Steel! Stolen from these very boards said in third person: And the destroyer walked among the heathens and where he did walk there to did death walk. |
| CaoSlayer07-26-05, 04:05 AM | with the war hulk prc there is just only one suitable battle cry: "Hulk smashs!!" |
| High King Tigernmas07-26-05, 05:38 AM | Conan (and before that, Celt) 'Macha, Nehmain, Badba and Morrigan' Or 'Tonight the crows feast!' |
| High Octane07-26-05, 10:28 AM | If I have my death today, let it be one of glory and honor! |
| YasserYasserThreeBagsFull07-26-05, 10:47 AM | One of the first characters I played was a fighter named Endrin, who was spending a night in some king or another's castle and end up fighting in the middle of the night...naked. After that, it wasn't uncommon for him to yell "I"m Endrin and I'm naked" right before charging into battle, regardless of whether or not he actually was naked. Another common battle-cry of his was "FLAMESTRIKE! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD FLAMESTRIKE!" That was usually shouted when he realized he was facing overwhelming odds and wanted the cleric to even things up a bit. By the way, he never even bothered to make a Reflex save, just took the damage and started hacking away. Worked pretty well. Conan's speech kicks *ss, too. Nothing like asking a god for help and then ending it with "then to hell with you" And then of course, there's "happy death-day!" or "suffering brings only smiles"...Gwar is just nifty |
| Ansidar07-26-05, 10:43 PM | How about "Cry HAVOC! And let slip the dog's of war!" "Get Some!" (My superior doesn't like me yelling this... Can't understand why) "WAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!" Suitable Half-Orc battle cry "Hit Hard! Hit Fast! HIT FIRST!" and as a memorably dwarven cleric once said "You want blessing?" *WHAM* |
| obrysii07-26-05, 11:01 PM | Not really a battle cry, but my Werebear Monk called out, right before transforming into Hybrid form: "Now bear witness to me when at full strength!" He said this right after he had taken out two pirates. |
| Gorge07-26-05, 11:20 PM | Suck on this you GOOBER SMOOCHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! then you drive your sword, axe, knife, whatever into the back of their throat. |
| Evil Glowstick07-27-05, 05:26 AM | one of the best is "BATTLE!!!!"-from the movie Michel |
| Nuntius12807-27-05, 09:08 AM | or Da da da DA da DA... PUPPY POWER! I can't believe I'm posting this  I'm taking 2d6 shame damage right now. I just took 1d8 Constitution damage for two split sides. :D Oh and "Geeehehehehehe" coming from a feral orc in a gimp mask (and nothing else) was extremly intimidating. A gimp mask? Freaking awesome. :D From the Battlecry generator: "Blood and souls for my dark lord! No flesh shall be spared!!" And a favorite: BARUK KHAZAD!!! Also, Immigrant Song by Led Zepplin is full of great battle cries. |
| Enaloindir07-27-05, 10:48 AM | I'm really amazed nobody mentioned the "best" war cry ever: "Go for the eyes Boo, go for the eyes!" :D Enaloindir |
| Lycanthromancer07-27-05, 11:30 AM | I'm really amazed nobody mentioned the "best" war cry ever: "Go for the eyes Boo, go for the eyes!" :D Enaloindir Um...I did, but nobody noticed. "These boots were made for walkin' and that's just what they'll do. One of these rounds these boots are gonna walk all over you." |
| Fort deadly kick07-27-05, 01:31 PM | "Time to fight for my right to BEAR ARMS!" One of my favourate Werebear quotes. "Dretchny Fickety Foo!" (character was saying 'Don't press this button' in draconic, and made up some stuff to say) This was said after throwing a home-made bomb into a crowd of feral Kobolds, before diving out of a door. The kobolds fought over the bomb, then the champion punched one in the face and pressed the button. Good times. |
| Lao, Ninja of the Dragon07-27-05, 02:30 PM | "Pieeeeeeeeee!" "Attack, my animal friends!" "Dolphins go 'Eeeek!'" "Hello, Clarrise!" "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA kittensAAAAAAAAAA!" "I like eggs!" "Go away!" |
