| Khaldune11-09-06, 12:09 AM | It looks like our party will be having the final battle with the bbeg on the positive energy plane. What we are trying first to figure out is how to survive without exploding from getting too many hp due to the positive energy, without being masicistic. The next thing is it is going to be hard to kill anything on this plane, so we are planing to use immunity to energy(positive energy) dm aloud this but said the person couldnt be healed...use it on bbeg. any ideas for the minons that will come before bbeg. So any ideas on dealing with this plane for and extended period of time would be appriciated. |
| syrinth11-09-06, 02:02 AM | Stock up on dispel magics and keep hitting the BBEG with one every single time he throws up a defensive spell to shield him from the plane's power. ;) |
| Asaris11-09-06, 10:26 AM | Make all your weapons vicious. |
| Kyuketsukiouji11-09-06, 10:33 AM | Cast Positive Energy Resistance on yourselves and grapple the BBEG after dispelling his defience. Then wait for him to blow up. |
| epifreak11-09-06, 12:47 PM | Have the mage keep dispells on him, to prevent the positive energy resistance, and have the cleric make sure he never drops below full hit points. The rest of you, prevent him from doing nasty things to either character; if you can, grapple him. |
| Zemyla11-09-06, 02:49 PM | Once you've got his resistance out of the way, cast Undead Mask (from Savage Species) on him. This will cause him to be like the undead, and burn under the pitiless glare of the Positive Material Plane. |
| Cifer11-09-06, 02:54 PM | Battling on the PE plane is a funny thing... I'm definitely including it in a campaign someday... "Now should I stab the enemy to kill him or stab myself in order to not explode?" |
| malignor11-09-06, 05:44 PM | There are spells in the Manual of the Planes that protect you from such nastiness. Or you can all go Ethereal, then dispel him or Magic Missile him to death (or some other force effect). |

"Now should I stab the enemy to kill him or stab myself in order to not explode?" I can actually imagine a battle where every side just blasts itself to avoid exploding... |
| Aegeu11-11-06, 03:12 PM | Cast AoE spells and do both at once! |
| Need_A_Life11-12-06, 04:20 PM | Be a warforged juggernaut (or warforged with that odd feat) and that way you're immune to positive energy... now stab him to death. Seriously, unless you're waaaay underequipped you should be able to deal enough damage that he won't heal it at the end of the round... Though all the sudden a Mass Heal seems a frightening prospect, indeed. Also, suggestion spells can be fun... "Stop stabbing yourself, nothing good can come of it" "Look at all those nasty wounds of yours, get them healed" "Stab yourself in the heart, it's good for you" |
| LCD2YOU11-12-06, 04:34 PM | What a truly bright idea. You sir are a beacon to the rest of us. |
| Thubby11-12-06, 10:33 PM | use a restraining spell on the bbeg (ottilukes sphere, or the like). then stand around beating each other silly until he pops. if he tries to use a spell, counter it. as for little guys, take all teh one round kills oyu can, and leave the rest to pop. |
| SunTzuWarmaster11-13-06, 08:56 AM | Wear spikes in awkward places (you stab yourself when you move), to make sure that you are taking damage every round (DaVinci Code, anyone?). Hold Person becomes a POWERFUL spell on the positive energy plane. |
| Teron Gorefiend11-13-06, 11:16 AM | There are spells in the Manual of the Planes that protect you from such nastiness. Or you can all go Ethereal, then dispel him or Magic Missile him to death (or some other force effect). There are two problems with that idea: 1. The ethereal plane is only accessible from the material plane. 2. Force spells cast on the material plane affect the ethereal, but the reverse is not true. |
