This may be a bit confusing, but lets see how it goes...

I've got a human 5Pal/10Kensai and I'd like him to gain the celestial template. Now, is there a way to do this either by PrC or Feat or something else that doesn't involve Divine intervention?

I've read Complete Divine, Book of Exalted Deeds, Monster Manual, Savage Species, and the Core books. So far i've not been able to find anything. Maybe I've missed it, its entirely possible.

Any help would be appreciated.

It's entirely up to the DM. Half-celestial is an inherited template, meaning that you're normally born one as opposed to becoming one at a later date. It's purposely very difficult to add templates to a character after creation to keep them from being abused.

If you really want to be a half-celestial, break it up into a four-level progression (it's an ECL adjustment of +4) and present it to your DM. Say that you're character's divine blood is now beginning to manifest or something suitabley plotty. Then spend the next four levels "becoming" a half-celestial.

Other option is a "wish" or "miracle" spell, which again, the dm has full control over.

Might want to start by having your character do A LOT of good deeds.

Since the Half-Celestial is an inherited template and there is really no mechanic for aquiring it through XP, levels, or multiclassing your best bet would be to inform the DM of your wishes and see if;

1. He is ok with it and doesn't think its too powerful or otherwise unfit for the current game.

2. He would be willing to come up with a method for how this can occur, such as an interesting sory arc, wish, divine intervention, etc.

The bottom line is that there really is no conventional rules based method for adding this template later in a character's career, so any method of it occuring at this point will require collaboration with your DM. My 2 cents.

A wish works well.

If you search from the Wiz home page the Savage Progressions may have the ability to add levels of 'celestial' or 'half-celestial' that you could convince your DM to let you take because of awakened blood (or something).

Complete Devine has the Visage of the Deity, lesser, greater spells if you arn't able to become a Celestial per say.

Use a Savage Species progression and create a PrC modelled from the Dragon Disciple, which turns into a half-dragon.

Yes.

Dragon Disciple (core 3.5 PrC) - you become effectively Half-Dragon

??? (homebrew PrC) - you become effectively Half-Celestial

The only thing to do is to project such a class, basing on Dragon Disciple. I remember doing something like that, but I didn't finish and somehow couldn't find it right now.

Or you can try to convince GM to just get the template through some ritual or dramatic event.

Check the MOST recent issue of Dragon Magazine

They have 2 prestige classes (one for casters, one for non-casters).

Each prestige class allows your body to become slowly infused with the spirit of one of the many Celestial creatures, you get to choose which type

Whichever type you pick, you get their special powers.

Ever read Dieties and Demigods? Dieties can have about 5 Avatars, which is (if i remember correctly) right under Demigods

Demigods on the other hand has 3 Lesser Avatars...

Avatars get a lot of things + all the stuff a celestial gets...

just don't become a Avatar under a greedy Demigod... Doesn't pay that well... +4 str, and not that much else :(... ohh yeah... immunity to pain is fun :P

My Paladin/knight inquisitor is going through ascension into half-celestialhood. Basically the DM broke it up into a 4 level savage progression class thingamibob (not having SS myself I've taken his word that it's all good).
No need to mess around with the dragon disciple

Yeah, that's basically what we're doing.

Read Savage Species again, particularly page 150.
Essentially, Wish can change you from one creature to another.
